I'm reading Soulless (Parasol Protectorate) by Gail Carriger and it is delightful. Highly recommend if you enjoy historical fiction, werewolves, sassy heroines, banter, and mystery

The entire series is on sale (US Ebook) for 6.99 today on the Zon! Got get ‘em!
I wanted to started the gushing with a book series that has been my favorite for years—The Paradol Protectorate
I just re-read the first book in the series. “Soulless,” and it was just as good as the very first time I read it, years ago.
It is set in Victorian England, but a Victorian England’s where vampires and werewolves are integrated into society. Alexia Tarrabotti, a spinster of the ripe old age of 25, gets drawn into a plot of disappearing supernaturals, which is primary being investigated by a handsome Scottish werewolf earl. As they dance around their attractions to each other, suspicious events pile up until it is clear Alexia is the one in danger.
I love every single part of the book: the arguments/flirtations between Alexia and Lord Maccon, the flamboyant vampire with a harem of spies, and the delightful way the supernatural is woven into the Victorian landscape.
“The redheaded greaser shouldered her crossbow. Hers was larger and more deadly-looking than Prim’s and it was interesting to note that she owned one. Rue would wager on Greaser Phinkerlington being an excellent shot. Rue had no concrete reason. Aggie simply seemed the type of female mean enough to be good at a crossbow.” (Prudence, Chapter Nine)
I cosplayed my favorite crotchety lesbian at Katsucon! I’ve actually wanted to cosplay her for a while, but my muscles haven’t been up to par so I haven’t. Aggie was super fun to make and wear and take photos in. I trained for several months to get guns enough that I felt comfortable cosplaying her–and now that I’m in the habit (and loving what I see) I’ll keep training to wear her in the future.
Thanks to @rogueofstorms for the pictures! Can’t wait to wear her again <3
Gentle Reader, here is the digital & audio cover for Meat Cute: The Hedgehog Incident…
Preorder at your vendor of choice!
or directly from me or Amazon (kindle etc) or other eReaders (nook etc)
What are Preorders, and Why Do They Matter?
And now…
THE COVER ART!
Is that our original Alexia model on the cover?
Yes.
Donna (my cover model and the genius behind Geeky Teas) and I remain friends to this day. She happened to have some more photos from an old series of shoots she did (several of which ended up on the original Parasol Protectorate series).
I bought one and ta-da, we have a cover with the same model on it!
Isn’t that awesome?
Who actually made it?
As usual I used the fantastic Starla to manipulate Donna’s image into something approaching the other books in the Parasol Protectorate series. And, as always, she did a wonderful job. See how it goes with?
Why blue?
I have no idea, I guess I just liked it? Perhaps it’s a bit close to Changeless, but I think of that cover as more teal.
Note it does have some differences? For example I chose a silhouette skyline for the background partly because I wanted to bridge to the cameo style of Fan Service…
Anyway, there you have it!
In the next cover announcement you’ll get to see it Dimity’s book, Defy or Defend. I hope you’re excited for that one! And yes, that’s the title. Sneaky Gail is sneaky.
Yours (drowning in cover art decisions),
Miss Gail
