a lot of posts focused on correcting misinformation rather than dealing with the root of the issue, which is that when given the choice between using their noggins + being racists....ppl who spend 90% of their time on tumblr/a03 are gonna choose racism

anyway DDOS ransom attacks suck but since people decided to uncritically spread racist and Islamophobic propaganda in the wake of a common internet attack, instead of donating more money to AO3 (which always gets all the money asked for and more) please consider donating to these organizations

The Rainbow Railroad helps LGBTQ+ people around the globe who face immediate physical danger due to the laws or policies of the countries they live in, up to and including helping people emigrate for safety. They also help with on-the-ground programs for people who they cannot help emigrate. I personally know and love someone who was helped by this organization. You can read their history here.

not as overtly racist/sinophobic as the other people theyve blamed so it would never happen bc ao3 is a white person website but i do think it would be incredibly funny if the ao3 people started arguing that it was an official decree by the Vatican State signed by the pope himself and carried out by a special team of catholic hackers that took out the website

i would become catholic if this actually happened. unfortunately not racist enough
