Nancy had thought she was //fine// with Jonathan going to NYU. She was so excited and overwhelmed that he’d gotten into the school of his dreams (although she never //doubted// that he would get in). She had to stick a little more //local//, because she didn’t get the opportunity to get scholarships and her father didn’t make enough to send her to an actual university, so she was stuck at Hawkins Community College, studying investigative journalism.

She knew she was going to //miss// her boyfriend, but she didn’t know just how //much// she would miss him. It was a culture shock—going from seeing each other everyday to maybe seeing each other for one or two weekends a month. What she //hadn’t// expected was a deep, ugly jealousy that grew as the months passed. Her insecurities would scream at her, and she found herself in constant comparison with the girls he went to college with. She’d visit him as often as she could, and she couldn’t help but //notice// some other NYU girls who seemed to //cling// to him.

She never mentioned it, being too afraid to admit that she was scared he would //lose interest// in her. But one weekend, as she walked up to his door, and saw a girl—Daphne— leaving his dorm, her heart dropped and her blood boiled. She wore a deep frown on her features as she saw Jonathan, more //hurt// showing on her face than anger. “Hey,” she said in a small voice. “Is—is there anything I need to be //worried// about?” she blurted out, unable to keep the words contained. @frevksboy

          it was strange  being away from home.  he missed everyone terribly, his mom and his brother, and of course he missed nancy.  he’d finally gotten the girl he wanted for a while, and then he had to leave for school.  of course he was happy here, he liked it in new york but at the same time it was lonely.  he thought about the people back home a lot, but this was his dream and he couldn’t give it up.  not after they worked so hard to get him here.

          he knew nancy was coming, was happy to see her.  but the frown on her face made him worry, naturally.  he always worried about other people, never himself.  how he’d always been, and that probably would never change.

          ❛ nance... ❜  he knew that tone, and the way she looked just after the girl had left ?  he knew what she was thinking and he hated she even got that in her head.  ❛ it’s just a project we’re paired for.  you know that the only girl i’d ever have eyes for is you... ❜

          there was only one thing  he was really afraid of.  and that was losing what he already has.  his life may not be the best, but right now it’s at a point where it’s good.  his mom and will are okay, they’re doing financially okay for the moment.  and he has nancy as a friend.  he’s afraid of screwing any of those things up.  and taking another step with nancy would probably result in what they had crumbling eventually, because she’d realize there were far better options out there.  ❛ our lives are finally back to normal nance...  as normal as they can be after what happened.  i don’t want to screw that up. ❜
