The lack of support for Northern musicians is another way you can see the North / South divide in action.
Art and music are not optional extras. They are vital to living a rich life.
It starts with proper funding across the country for musicians, from affordable practice spaces to musical education in schools.

A society that treats carers so callously is an immoral society.
We will replace an over complicated and punitive benefit system with a Universal Basic Income. This will empower everyone to care for their loved ones without worrying about interference from the DWP.

PIP is a vital lifeline for many disabled people. Withdrawing benefits from people experiencing mental illness would be needlessly, senselessly cruel.
We should be making it easier for disabled people to get the support they need, not harder.

Avanti are getting away with weaponosed incompetence, scrounging off the taxpayer without providing a reasonable service. Why should they have their contract renewed?
Only nationalisation can fix our railways. We would take back our railways to give taxpayers a better deal.

Thames Water is just one of many public utility companies being rewarded for their failure.
Making utilities publicly owned is just common sense, private companies have proven they can't be trusted to take care of them.

The amendment in parliament to decriminalise abortion is a step in the right direction and we support it.
Abortion is healthcare. Anyone who can get pregnant should be able to access abortion without fear of ending up in prison.

£3.6bn was cut from Northern local authority budgets between 2010-2018. Any 'pledge' to reduce regional inequality which does not reverse these cuts to Northern budgets is meaningless hot air.

So much for standing with trans people, just 10 days after TDoV Wes Streeting has said a Labour government would implement the recommendations of the Cass Review.
Those recommendations include barring under-25s from using gender clinics. Treating trans people like children who don't know their own minds is about as far from standing with them as you can get.
The NIP will stick to respecting the bodily autonomy of trans people. There's no reason not to use an informed consent model for trans healthcare unless you're trying to stop people from transitioning.

In 2023 sewage spills into our waterways doubled.
We've been shown over and over that privatisation results in higher prices, worse services and failing infrastructure.
It's past time to nationalise water companies and clean up our rives and seas.

The UK is the 5th richest country in the world.
Child poverty is at 29%, that's a political choice.
The Tories have spent 14 years gutting our public services and support for families, but we know there's more than enough wealth in this country to go around.
