personally I like evermore wayyy more than folklore (like I love folklore! but evermore is the top album for me and folklore is probably around number 5 or 6) and I think that the stories are evermore just connect with me more. like champagne problems coney island ivy tis the damn season happiness are so richly evocative of these stories and relationships that really appeal to me and the whole album just seems to function as this coherent unit of imagination and sound. whereas with folklore i think of the songs much more as standalones. also am not a huge fan of the concept of the teenage love triangle (although i individually love the songs) so maybe thats part of it!

ok so to be honest that's the first time i think i've heard of that perspective, you know i think within the fandom it's mostly the ''folklore is better as a whole piece of work and evermore has better standalone songs'' mindset. and i kind of have that opinion too, like, listening to folklore from start to finish (with a few exceptions) i have a clear picture in my mind of what that album is about even if not all the songs tell, "follow" the exact same story, you know what i mean? whereas with evermore i don't really feel that, that the songs have a connection (although i see a clear picture in my head with this album as well) but it's super interesting to see that you do and as i said i think it's the first time i'm hearing that so yeah it's very interesting and surprising!!!! i like how we as listeners can interpret songs and albums however we like, there's a million possibilities and points of view and that's the point!!!! and i totally get what you're saying about the teen love triangle, even if i don't agree bc those are my blorbos' song you know ? so it's fine with me 😜 but yeah i can see how it's not for everyone and that's totally fine!
