" 𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 . “ he’s moving around too much , trying to divide his attentions unto too many things , and it’s obstructing heugh’s ability to properly inspect the skin that’s swollen ruddy and blue , the gash it adorns . the grip he fixes onto that jaw isn’t firm , but it is very present — hoping to draw eames back to the task at hand . “ stay god damn still so i can get some iodine on this . “

that the two of them should tend each other’s wounds when each has inflicted worse upon the other in the past ought to be some textbook example of irony at its finest. it is funny, but the quip he had prepared dies on his tongue at the exasperated but gentle hold of his jaw --- he is unaccustomed to touch void of intents to harm, it takes him off guard. “ mr. heugh. “ he hums through a soft exhale, but doesn’t move to resist. as a matter of fact, he’s rather pliant as he turns with the hold of heugh’s hand, “ has anyone ever told you that you’re bossy? “

a kiss as a cover up, quick reactions to distract the viewer... maybe there's an emotion, who knows
one hand grasps the lapel of the other, gently tugging him near as lips meet. it is a tender gesture from an outsider's perspective, but an outsider would not see the usb one man slides into the inner pocket of the other's jacket. if he stays a breath away for a moment longer than necessary, well, he's always been one for dramatics. and maybe the outsider has a point in their observation, too. " you play nicely with that now, " he hums into the sliver of space between them, " or i shall have no choice but to come take it back. "

get in the car! now!
her voice cuts through the chaos and the car has barely come to a halt when he leaps into the backseat, closing the door behind him as a hail of bullets follows suit. he remains there, on his back, breath coming in and out of his chest in large waves, an unmistakable grin wide across his face. " would you believe me if i said that was all part of the plan? " he ought to have the presence of mind to drop the amusement when he meets the steel of her gaze in the rear view mirror, but instead it only grows -- it's part of his charm, or perhaps just a permanent flaw of character, " what fun is a plan without some close calls, after all. "
