Flipping Youth would like to welcome Mike De Roeck to the team, who after volunteering his time to attend community meetings during the planning phase of @freedomskateparkja and offer support during construction, will now be an official trustee of the charity. Mike brings a wealth of experience working with at-risk youth, having worked on Employability programmes with @princestrust in East London before being seconded to work with @heartnstatrust for a year in Jamaica with @princestrustinternational. THE SKATEPARK IS FINISHED! 😆😆😆 It has been a long journey, nearly 4 years for Flipping Youth and much longer for the @sk876_ community, but Kingston Jamaica finally has a skatepark for the youth to ride freely and enjoy. Many people have kindly given their time and energy to help push this campaign forwards, but the project has been driven at the core by our fellow members of the Freedom Skatepark Foundation: @concretejunglefoundation @seprodfoundation @sandalsfdn @tmrw.tday 🙏🏼 The Concrete Jungle Foundation mobilised a 25+ strong team of international volunteers and worked tirelessly around the clock to build this park over the past 8 weeks, despite the extra challenges of dealing with a pandemic. Absolutely remarkable commitment by those who watched the final flights leave Jamaica whilst they continued shovelling concrete, all in the spirit of giving back to skateboarding 🙌 The skatepark wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity of our supporters @theskateroom @newlineskateparks @pariskateculture @japremix @tankweld @jamnesiasurf AND our fantastic apprentices on the Planting Seeds Programme 🌱 @kaylawheelerr @froggboss @ronald_the_superman_junior @k.g_kushh @justjeffcrossley 🚧 NEXT PHASE: Youth Centre construction!
