 Briefly he contemplated the red line running across his fingers, the kiss of a knife that his unexpected guest had wielded the night before.

   “Well, it can’t hurt.” He replied, his smirk growing ever so slightly. On the very rare occasions that Salomé graced them with her presence, Fish was always a little on edge. Eager to be close to him, as though his boss couldn’t be trusted to be out of her sight for one minute. But that only fueled Salomé’s desire to be a nuisance, didn’t it?

 She was flirtatious then on purpose, to get under Fish’s skin. It seemed that a visit might be due now after Scarlett had gotten in touch like he’d recommended.

   “I may have had another woman in my motel room, but as you said…I could have been killed. And I ought to get a little bonus out of it. I think it’s only fair.” He added, raising an eyebrow at her as she stood there with her hands on her hips, her face sweetly flushed even if she tried to deny it to herself.

 He tilted his head, amusement shining in his eyes.

   “Fish…you’re the only woman I want to be threatened by in the middle of the night. Is that what you wanna hear?”

Abel was enjoying this too much for her taste. Well, alright then.

In just a few steps, she was standing dangerously near him, cupping his jaw between her fingers, lips so close to his that they brushed. Almost a kiss, but not yet. 

“Keep this up and I might make your wish come true,” she whispered, a tease more than an actual threat -and even if it was a threat? It was always a game, between them. Softness and roughness interchanged with the same endearment. 

Fuck. Maybe she was jealous. Possessive. Maybe she didn’t want to share him, maybe she hated to think that a woman had been so close to killing him -and a murder could be so intimate...

She finally stole his lips in an angry kiss, abrupt. Teeth grazing the flesh as she abandoned herself to the violence of her emotions -greed, selfishness. Wanting him to be hers, and hers alone.

“I better be the only woman you want threatening you,” she added, breathless against him.

Fish offered a perfectly pleasant little smile to Clarice Starling. She had the nonchalance of confident people, which was, of course, to be expected from the daughter of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. And so, Clarice’s irritation was more entertaining than anything else. 

Jack had not picked miss Starling by accident, Fish Lecter was sure of that. He knew very well the type of people that her father... savored. A bit rough, a bit garish, seemingly unyielding.
