So the imageset I posted of this really doesn't get Vincent's response across clearly enough, the way he flinches at Barret's comment is honestly heartbreaking. We can assume that Barret has no idea what he actually just said, but that doesn't make it any more pleasant for Vincent to hear.

Taking into account Barret's earlier response (wherein he called Vincent a "damn freak" and immediately starting shooting at him), plus the fact that none of the security systems in the Manor seem to even notice he's there (implying that he registers as a resident monster the same as all Hojo's other specimens, something I'll go into when I have the spoons for a big Hi Vincent I Love You Vincent post about Rebirth), this is...rough.

#this is... a lot. i now love vincent for more than just his character design. love the guy #on an unrelated sidenote: is he voiced by fucking matt mercer because i swear to god #UPDATE: YUP‚ HE IS‚ THERE IS NO ESCAPING THIS MAN. #okay random tangent over i just needed to point that out because oh my god. at any rate i know jack about final fantasy but i quickly grew #fond of vincent for his amazing design and antics #but now you're telling me he's a HALF-MONSTER TOO?!?!?! someone struggling with his sense of humanity and self-perception?!?!??! #crab for me?!?!?!??! don't mind if i DO!!!!!!!!! #vincent valentine #also my process of getting vaguely attached to this guy involved a lot of accidentally thinking art of him was art of sol‚ LMAO. #final fantasy #final fantasy spoilers #(just in case because the tags said so)
