Did you watch the video? I think I know which one you're talking about and the person talks more about how sanitised Heartstopper and 'good' LGBT media is, and the problem with reactions to 'messy' portrayals. I like Heartstopper but I can’t disagree with what they say.

Hey! Sorry for this late response, life has been chaotic lately! In all honestly I didn't because I was pretty busy. But that's an entirely fair point. I think at the time of that post I was frustrated by other reactions I'd seen to Heartstopper and similar lighter LGBT shows, so I probably shouldn't have singled that video out — if I have the chance to watch it I will try to! I've noticed that a lot, with criticisms of movies and shows such as Brokeback Mountain or Black Sails. Yeah, they're grittier, but that's what they're meant to be. I also think it's unfair to act like LGBT people have to be perfect to be treated with dignity. LGBT should be allowed to be messy and complicated just like cis/straight people are. Both stories have their place. If you want a sweet, wholesome story as escapism, Heartstopper and stories like it are amazing. But if you want something messier, those stories should also be allowed to exist. Thank you for the ask, anon! You've brought up a fair point that I probably should have included in my original post and I'm grateful to you for it!

Genuinely, the funniest way I can interpret Matpat's character in the FNAF movie is that he's a true crime girlie obsessed with the case of the missing kids at Freddy's. Like, he's one of those true crime obsessive weirdos who like to do armchair detective work.

-He has an entire theory board about what could've happened to the kids and will tell anyone who's willing to listen.

-He's actually got it right once (you know, kids' bodies in suits). But by then, he'd already called the cops about the case so much they just ignored him because they think he's a crack pot.

"Aren't you the kid who broke into the place to dismantle the pizza ovens because you were convinced their bodies were in there?"

"Yeah, but this is different-"

-He's one of the reasons they had to hire a security guard. If he was anyone else, William Afton would be worried about him, but no one takes him seriously (would you?), and he just hires someone to watch the place. They don't last long.

-The only change to canon being he's *slightly* more involved in the story when Mike wakes up to the guy trying to sneak in the backway.

-The guy, his name is Ness, as Mike finds out, starts talking at him about his theories but leaves when Mike threatens to call the cops.

-It's only after the animatronics start acting weird and haunted that he goes to the diner that Ness works at to see if the guy is *maybe* onto something.

alejandro doesnt really fit mischa imo

a big part of mischa is him being extremely problematic to everyone else because of how his anger manifests. alejandro's anger manifests in him manipulating everyone else + proving himself as the best, mischa's anger manifests in him acting out + proving his life as the best (or would you rather say, awesome?)

this is a small difference when you look at it from a surface-level, but it makes their motivations for things so much more different

another big part of mischa is his poverty. he makes up facts about himself and his life. alejandro on the other hand, while he does try his best to hide how he's not the favorite in his family, he lives pretty good in terms of economic status. its implied that he is upper middle class or more. mischa literally doesn't know that tiffanys doesn't sell toothbrushes

and heres the thing: alejandro would not ever sing this song is awesome. he might sing talia, but absolutely not this song is awesome. i think it would be more in character for him to call jose his favorite brother than it would be for him to sing that song (exaggerated)

tl;dr: while yes they both fit the "douche with a soft spot for their love" trope well, if we are doing this au via similarities, alejandro doesn't fit mischa because they are too different as characters.

anyway i propose duncan instead for mischa :3
