Switching back to ace Jimmy headcanons, Jimmy and Joel are Like That because they're best friends, Joel is good at knowing Jimmy's comfort limits, and they also both know Joel's a Lizzie simp through and through. And Joel is very proud and a bit egotistical of being a safe space for his repulsed ace friend to work through his fear of expressing affection and jokes. Jimmy's just happy he can still be like that with people who aren't also aspec and be comfortable.
