8th of May, adios a la isla bonita
Let's see if I can remember what happened yesterday, not a whole lot went down to be honest.
We found ourselves on a beautiful little island with my new boyfriend Wakka. We went to a temple of some kind where everyone had the biggest pants of history.
No sign of Rikku, yayyyy.
I feel like I want to write a scholarly essay on the cultural significance of big pants and shoes, and zippers and chains but specifically within the context of Japanese role-playing games.
Is it, like, a futurist thing? I can't get over it.
NOTES
This is bullshit, I can't pet the cat in the Crusader's tent (or whoever's tent)?!
Sweet, you can nap with my boyfriend Wakka!
Flashback: Diego is mad at his Dad?
Diego is such an asshole!
This maze thing with all the spheres is kinda creepy, it sorta gives me Lovecraftian vibes?
Who is that summoner lady? She's so pretty!
Wakka is trying to fuck Diego.
I absolutely hate that narration.
That pretty lady summoned a penis butterfly, and a name! Yuna!
That child in the red pants needs a decking.
Ooh, sharing dreams with Yuna? Is this the beginning of my emotional investment?
Side-note: Yuna is also trying to fuck Diego.
Jecht is such a prick, no wonder Diego hates him.
The jury is out on whether Lulu sucks or not but she is dressed like an absolute psycho.
Fucken wasted that dog thing with my bitchin' new sword.
We're going on an adventure! By boat even!

7th of May - Wakka Wakka, eh eh.
I think I forgot to save my game last night.
Reflecting on last night: I'm not quite emotionally invested just yet, but also I'm only an hour into it, to be fair. Let's see if I can recap what's happened so far:
A young man starts off his evening playing a game that seems to be a combination of basketball/dodgeball that also features a giant, levitating sphere of water. I have a feeling this water is sentient.
The young man (I chose the name, I went with Diego, I'm back on my Spanish journey). Diego seems very good at holding his breath. This may or may not be important later.
Suddenly, the city is attacked! By a bunch of genital monsters!
Diego fends them off with the help of his friend Auron, who gives him a sword and is also kinda cute, generally helpful but also deeply fucking cryptic?
After fighting the demons/monsters off, there's a general confusion - full disclosure, I don't totally remember what happened but Diego is in some sort of underworld? He's swimming around a whole bunch of ruins, makes a fire and falls asleep.
Diego has a weird dream about a goblin/small child who makes fun of him (not sure about this?) for crying.
He then gets rescued by a lady (I assume? They have tits?) who speaks a strange language (which is very irritating because it's not translated).
He then has to start working for this lady (?) so he doesn't get killed by her gang (??). They (Diego and his new lady [?] friend) go to an ancient underwater ruin to search for power (???).
I've missed something, I'm sure.
NOTES
I did indeed forget to save my game.
Diego continues to be very good at holding his breath.
That tablet thing in the underwater ruins looks ancient, why is he banging on it?!
Do the Final Fantasy games have themes? Like this one seems to have a maritime theme?
Wooooo! I beat that octopus-looking motherfucker.
Diego eating sounds fucking disgusting.
The lady (?) has a name: Rikku.
What the fuck is Al Bhed?
I KNEW IT, WE'RE IN THE FUTURE.
Autosave has ruined me, saving every chance I get.
Wakka! I know him from Kingdom Hearts! ^__^
Side-note: is he voiced by John DiMaggio?
Side-side-note: is he speaking in patois?
Side-side-side-note: is he trying to fuck Diego?!
I have a CHOICE: 'I don't know any prayers'.
My kingdom for a save point! This fucking village.

6th of May, a beginning.
I used to keep a journal. I stopped writing, because I didn't feel that I had anything interesting to write about. But I want to make this a habit so I have to find something to write about.
So! I've decided to write about a new venture: I'm going to chronicle my attempt to finish a Final Fantasy game.
This has been a personal bugbear of mine. I've been wanting to finish a Final Fantasy game for several years now, and before you ask: yes, I'm aware that there are several things that I need to be working on, but start small, right?
What am I expecting to get out of Final Fantasy X? I'm expecting pretty visuals, incredibly repetitive music, cringe-worthy voice acting, and turn-based combat?
I want to become emotionally invested, and I want to see something through.
My notes so far:
Weird, vaguely Judaeo-Christian name for what I suspect is a villain - 'Sin'.
Creatures in the opening battle look like penises/vaginas (related to my first point maybe?)
The combat takes ages.
What is the reason behind the big pants/chains on everything/zippers?
To be fair though, Auron's outfit is pretty kewl.
Not being able to skip cut scenes is simultaneously super annoying but gives me such a nostalgic pang.
The dialogue is not great.
Also, what's the deal with the big swords???
