In two minds about the ending of The Painted Veil - specifically the bit where Kitty goes to bed with her old lover. On the one hand it seems mysogenistic to write her as so weak that she'd sleep with someone she'd come to despise. On the other hand, it sort of work for her circumstances and character development?
She's grieving and vulnerable and still a bit in love with the bastard. People do make stupid mistakes that way. And in narrative terms, maybe a mistake like that needed to happen in order for her to fully reject him? And the person she used to be?
It still makes me wince though.

I think a pivotal role in the formation of the Henchwomen's Union must have come when a villain pulled something like the Joker in The Dark Knight where they arranged a heist and told everyone to shoot each other to reduce the split of the take, and the henchgirls picked up on this and all staged a walkout of the heist.

I've never seen this story better described.
redemption arcs that double as tragedies!! you're a better person than you've ever been and you have nothing left to your name!!you have to rebuild yourself and your life from the ground up and you're smiling in the ashes!! you were devastated your life is ruined!!! nothing is ever going to be the same ever again you are never going to regain what you had you are never going to be free of the guilt you are never going to be able to go home there is nothing left for you!!! you are free you are more yourself than you've ever been!! fires help forests grow!!

Writing original fiction is like “*knocks on your door* hi hello can I interest you in this blorbo from my show, the one inside my head, if you look to your left you’ll see the towering cliffs of my their neuroses, and to your right is the scenic burning trash pile that I have lovingly placed them into…”
