prayers don't have to be perfect by the way.

I pray to the gods in the middle of my classes, my shifts at work, and in the shower.

I pray waiting at the bus stop.

I pray looking for something I lost.

I'm not always the best at consistently praying and leaving offerings at my altar. most of my worship is quick prayers on the go and devotional acts.

that's ok. I'm trying and the gods don't hate me or anything.

they don't hate you either. practice in a way that fits into your life and your needs. that's enough I think.

In my case, I literally felt a huge energy and pull toward my altars when I maintained boundaries and kept my peace. Could feel my deities being like “HOLY SHIT !!! THEY FINALLY DID IT”

I feel like when people get into deity work, deity worship or anything deity related we all kinda think that we NEED to communicate with them, we NEED to do tarot cards with them, we NEED to reach out and actively work with them. But I feel like that's not it. Yes, you can communicate with them if you and them want to. Yes, you can do tarot cards with them. Yes, you can actively work with them, but you don't HAVE to. I think you can also just light their candle, give them an offering and just spend 20 minutes or however long you want listening to music with them and just chatting to them about whatever is on your mind and they won't mind it. Because you are putting in the effort and your time to be with them even if it's not doing any of the things you see a lot of pagans and witches do on tiktok.

#i basically only do divination with kirke and telegonos #bc i have a particular relationship w them and its part of kirke’s domain #everyone else i just give offerings and prayers to and occasional devotional acts like running for hermes

in other news my partner and i are finally moving out of our stressful living situation into our own place in june and we’re getting engaged this year :) already have plans to make more substantial shrines wherever we move and have plans to incorporate hera and aphrodite into the wedding🥰

#my wedding earrings (which my mom bought for me🥺) are golden peacocks #and im going to decorate my hair with apple blossom pins (and maybe polished roman coins) for aphrodite (a la dolce & gabbana spring 2014) #my partner is muslim so we’re mostly doing a secular wedding but we’re also doing a nikkah :) #my faith has always been much more personal to me (a remnant of being raised quaker) #so im not really incorporating hellenism into the wedding itself just my outfit #and i will likely be doing a series of offerings to hera and aphrodite (and other household gods) leading up to the wedding🥰 #.txt

every time im going through a rough period i lapse in my faith and then feel better the second i return to my practice, even if no other factors have changed. you’d think eventually id figure out i should lean into Theoi when the going gets rough but i am not a smart man

i think this is the first time ive ever celebrated Kore’s return in Toronto before the equinox?usually I don’t welcome Her until mid-April, but earlier this week i saw snowdrops and yesterday I saw both the first crocus (my sign of her return) AND the first dwarf lake iris?

#this winter was Weiiiird #also next year i May be swapping my sign of Her return to the dwarf lake iris since its native and thus a better indicator for my region #while still being a common garden plant so im more likely to see it on walks around the neighborhood #(vs other native flowers i may only see if i go hiking) #.txt #my practice
