Standing before an elegant mirror Cirwedh dragged her hand from one scar to another, counting the marks scattered across her war-weary flesh. Looking at her reflection she saw the way years of conflict had changed her. From the way her hair grew white and wild to the sharp claw-like curve of her nails. Her teeth (already sharp from her carnivore heritage) looked as if she had filed them to wolf-like points, and her eyes glowed with a hunger she'd never sate. Had she changed that much? How far had she fallen from the soft-smiled girl in the forest singing stories to birds and dancing through treetops? Did she still exist, hidden beneath the monster in the mirror, weeping for what she's become? The thought was shaken from her mind as a knock on the door broke Cirwedh from her trance. She pulled her leathers from the floor and began to dress, calling out to the person on the other side that she would be out shortly. There was a faint "yes miss" and then retreating footsteps before the room was quiet again. Cirwedh looked back to the mirror, and a tear fell down her cheek.
