I spoke with a fellow Finnish woman who referred to her hand with "hän" gender pronoun. Those who don't know, we have only one gender pronoun in Finland; formal hän and informal se (meaning It).

Hän is formal and originally meant to be used only of people or entities with human consciousness (like, an alien species would still go with hän, even if they had 4000 genders). People do generously use it of pets, meaning that the animal is equal to a human and part of the human family it lives in.

So it was really funny example of how liberal we are with gender pronouns in Finland. You can casually note that this person, which is your hand, has underwent multiple surgeries but still refuses to heal. It implies that the hand has a consciousness of its own and it has just decided to be uncooperative with this healing process.

It is also, if asking me, adding this "cutesy" elements; yes, I know you are doing your best my little dear hand, and I know you are sick and I know how hard it is for you to have surgeries - but try harder.
