I was surprised Wolfwood seemed kind of cold towards this kid at first.... but it makes sense once we realize that he would've of course recognized Zazie.

ALSO, it's once again time for 🚨 red-blue symbolism!!! 🚨

Wolfwood has two lollipops, red and blue. He keeps the red one for himself (symbolizing his not-yet allegiance to Vash) while he gives a blue one to Zazie (symbolizing their current allegiance to Knives). The lollipops are also vaguely Plant shaped!

and by that logic.... the way he plays with the red lollipop in his mouth is also fuel for the vashwood shippers 😉

tristampede episode 10 thoughts!!!

I'm so! I can't! episode 10 has ruined me I'm no longer a person i'm merely a bundle of vibrating thoughts, SO LET'S GET TO THOUGHTS & PREDICTIONS

Character Thoughts & Predictions

I looove that we get to see JuLai as this huge thriving city! Knowing what goes down in Trimax though, I can't imagine we'll be seeing too much more of it, hahhahhh...

Elendira is here!!! TBH her inclusion has me fully convinced we'll get a season 2. Imagine, we timeskip a couple years, and then Elendira is adult-sized and as powerful as she was in Trimax.

Roberto, my man... I had a hunch he would die and pass on his derringer to Meryl BUT HE'S REALLY GROWN ON ME AND I HATE THAT I WAS RIGHT. again this setup feels so prime for a season 2. Meryl is hardened now, filled with grief. She's no longer the plucky young newbie, instead she's a dogged reporter looking for the whereabouts of Vash the Stampede. She's assigned a new partner, a newbie, and that partner is Milly! It's Milly time if we get season 2, I can feel it in my bones!

Knives calling Vash the fuck out for not actually loving humans and instead just feeling the need to atone HOLY FUCK. Lotsa atonement themes between Knives and Vash and William Conrad and Wolfwood! The religious theming just adds that extra bit of spice to give everyone a bit more depth!

The fucking Eye of Michael contract holy shit... two angels of Knives and Vash... then a direct reference to St. Michael being the namesake of Eye of Michael... I can't believe trigun is out here getting me to crack open some biblical studies on the side so I can delve into this further...

I wonder if William Conrad is actually going to survive this season. I can see it going either way, like maybe he lives, or maybe Knives gets pissed and kills him. Who knows!

Plot Predictions

Episode 11 is gonna be Vash torture by Knives and (attempted) rescue by Meryl and Wolfwood. Maybe a showdown with Elendira, but I imagine Wolfwood takes her down without toooo much trouble. Maybe Meryl gets a shot off on Elendira as revenge for Roberto. Or maybe she has a chance to kill Elendira but doesn't because she can't take a life when she imagines Vash's big doe eyes.

Episode 12 is finale time! JuLai is gonna get blown sky high. The plot beats will be similar to Fifth Moon in Trimax. Knives is going to force Vash to open his gate, unleash the angel arm (this will be our first look at Vash's angel arm!!!), and JuLai will be destroyed... or maybe just the moon! Legato and Zazie will be there, maybe Livio/Razlo makes an appearance if he has the energy idkkk. Ending scene will be Wolfwood monologuing while the camera pans over the destruction of JuLai and ends on a shot of Vash's coat blowing in the wind (with Vash nowhere to be found).

Season 2 (???) Predictions (in no particular order)

Milly!!! as a foil to Meryl's depression!

Timeskip! Vash as Eriks! Wolfwood finds Vash and Meryl (with Milly!) manages to show up at the same time!

The rest of the gungho guns finally show up! Most of the guns have special powers which can be explained by William Conrad's experiments... but I hope Midvalley is still just some guy who is ridiculously pitch perfect lmao.

I think it'd be neat to save Razlo for season 2!

Legato backstory.

Knives is injured after JuLai and we get some scenes of him getting restored back to health. (so maybe William Conrad lives to help with that.)

fresh look for Zazie?? why not!

Wolfwood and Livio training montage when they were first brought to Eye of Michael.

tristamp ep 6 thoughts & predictions

I am just turning tristamp episode 6 over and over and over in my brain hnnngh I'm so happy to see Livio, but also...

TRISTAMP SPOILERS, TRIMAX SPOILERS, TRIGUN 98 SPOILERS AHEAD

I guess I should have actually bothered to look at the episode 6 preview before making any predictions last week, but I am smarter and wiser now. I have seen the episode 7 preview and I am Worried.

but before i worry more, here's some episode 6 thoughts. I looove Livio so much and I'm so excited to see more of him and his double fang weapons in motion! I like what's going on with his redesign and I'm eager to see how Razlo looks. Livio's ponytail feels like a good opportunity to let his hair go loose when he becomes Razlo which would be dooope. I'm also so enamored with the style they went with for the Wolfwood & Livio flashbacks. And I like Eye of Michael's little circle and line logo that like... vaguely can be interpreted as an eyeball and the legs of an "M" or the arms of an "E." We finally get Legato too which is!!! so good!!! He's a delightful level of threatening without even seeing the full extent of his powers in a fight. Love it.

ah but now... episode 7 predictions. as much as I would love for Tristamp (or Tripede?) to be more than 12 episodes, they're moving so quickly that I guess they probably will just do one season! dang! having a short season makes an episode titled "Wolfwood" particularly worrying. I'm trying not to be too worried. After all... this could be a huge misdirect! Is there really enough time in a 20 minute episode to give enough attention to Wolfwood, Livio, and Razlo AND the Bad Lads Gang??? there's not, right??????

My big hope for episode 7 is that the title is merely a misdirect for manga fans who automatically assume that anything titled "Wolfwood" is going to result in his death. yeah, yeah, ok, the next episode looks like it'll also be digging more into the orphanage which also would be the plot beat for Wolfwood to die, but... consider... what if Wolfwood and Livio fight; Razlo gets defeated; Livio joins the group; and then later Wolfwood and Livio both get to team up against Legato in the lead-up to the final confrontation with Knives???

I just think episode 7 of a 12 episode run is waaay too early to kill off a fan fav even if that is his ultimate fate.

I also want to point out that Trimax contains two chapters named simply "Wolfwood": Trimax vol 2, chapter 4 and Trimax vol 10, chapter 7. And obviously, he only dies in one of those. In volume 2, Wolfwood shoots Raidei to defend Vash, similar to what went down with Rollo in episode 5... and they have a falling out over their difference in morals as a result. So maybe..... just maybe.... Tristamp episode 7 "Wolfwood" will be Vash and Wolfwood resolving their differences and not... Wolfwood dying.........

It feels like a lot to hope for! But, tbf, Wolfwood and Vash are not yet the partners they are by Trimax vol 10. I can't see either of them saying anything like "wanting to share their tomorrows" like Vash thinks as he fights alongside Wolfwood in Trimax vol 10. Wolfwood's death simply wouldn't have enough impact if it happened this soon -- they need to be way more trusting of and dedicated to each other first.

oh also, uh the Bad Lads Gang is here?????? what the heck are they going to be doing alongside all the big plot stuff that's being set up?

TL;DR episode 7 prediction:

Wolfwood and Livio and Razlo get more backstory and fight and stuff, but Wolfwood lives through it this time (to die another day). He and Vash become closer as a result. Livio maybe joins them? Legato is angry. Brilliant Dynamites Neon is there.

Meanwhile, I am waiting with the most bated of breath for the next stampede saturday.

tristamp thoughts (thru eps 5)

Trigun brainworms have completely invaded my brain, so I'm trying to get all of my thoughts and speculation organized. please pardon the mess and beware the spoiler warnings ✌️

SPOILERS for TRIGUN STAMPEDE, TRIGUN MAXIMUM, TRIGUN '98

I have SO MANY thoughts i don't even know where to begin. apologies again for how rambling this is going to be.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I've been a trigun fan since... 2006 or so? A friend got me hooked on it and then I'd desperately try to catch reruns on adult swim when I could manage to stay up late in middle school. but then i started buy volumes of the manga with my allowance and! that was the end for me! lifelong trigun fan forever and always!!!

I've always dreamed of having a FMA Brotherhood style reboot of the anime, buuuut damn am I loving what they're doing with Stampede. All the pieces are coming together, but in such a fresh way that's keeping me guessing and predicting. I love seeing this puzzle come together and I'm really hoping that studio orange sticks the landing!

TIMELINE

Alright so what's going on with this timeline! July (JuLai?) is still intact! The gung-ho guns are showing up (and dying) but Legato hasn't even shown up to introduce them! The first season is apparently only going to be 12 (!) episodes which seems like nowhere near enough to even tell the story at the accelerated pace they seem to be going.

Predictions: This season is going to end with the destruction of July City. Some of the plot beats are also going to coincide with the Fifth Moon incident since those incidents were said to be nearly identical. The studio is perhaps banking on Trigun's popularity to get a 2nd season greenlit which will then culminate in Knives' defeat.

July is allll the way on the opposite side of the map from where Vash & co have been. Which means there's plenty of time to squeeze in some other side stories on their way to July. I have a feeling we'll see the following plot beats on the way there: Brilliant Dynamites Neon in the sand ocean (his wanted poster can be seen in Jeneora Rock); the Polo and Fris family feud (Leonoff could be introduced here); Vash visiting his "home" to see sensei, Brad, maybe even Luida (Leonoff & Nine-Lives battle?); and the Hopeland orphanage seems like a good spot to get into Wolfwood's backstory a little. I imagine Dominque and Rai-dei, maybe Hoppered, and hopefully Midvalley will all make appearances before the season finale as well.

CHARACTERS

We've already seen so many characters in just 5 episodes! Vash (obvi), Meryl, Wolfwood, Nebraska family, Knives, Rem, E.G. Mine, Monev the Gale (presumably), Zazie the Beast... I think we've also had a glimpse of Gray the Nine Lives, plus the Doctor is probably Bill Conrad? The little girl is a mystery though!

Questions: Where is Legato??? he's not even around to introduce the Gung-ho Guns! It's weird, but I feel unsettled that Legato hasn't appeared yet. He's like a spectre haunting fans of the series right now... because he's pretty important, so he should show up! but when! and how!!!

Is the eps 5 implication that all of the gung-ho guns / knives' assassins were experimented upon by the doctor? if so, how does this factor into Wolfwood's backstory? will the Eye of Michael still be a thing... and if they are, then are they fully employed by Knives (instead of just individual members?)

Wolfwood's assassin name is now Punisher instead of Chapel? Does that mean that they'll even bother to give us Razlo the Tri-Punisher of Death? please I just want to see crybaby Livio get his anime debut! 😭

Predictions: I'm curious to see how Roberto fits into everything. I like how he plays off of Meryl and Vash, but I have a strong feeling he'll die by the season finale. I'm curious to see if Meryl starts using derringers as a result of his influence. Presuming we get a season 2, I'd bet that Meryl meets and gets paired with Millie at that time.

If the doctor is supposed to be Bill Conrad, he seems actually invested in Knives' plan rather than being coerced into it. So that's a different dynamic! Additionally, the little girl with him! She's most likely a plant like Vash and Knives... I just wonder if they'll give her the same name as the plant girl that was experimented on in the ship, or if she's supposed to be a completely new character.

Another season 2 presumption, but that would be the opportunity for the timeskip, and will probably also result in Vash having some amount of memory loss. He completely lost his memory of July, and partially lost his memory of Fifth Moon, so I think it's likely that plot beat will remain.

HOPES & DREAMS

Of course I want to see all of the Trimax only characters and plot beats! Livio & Razlo, Wolfwood's master, Elendira the Crimson Nail, Luida, the ships from Earth, Knives becoming a big ol' plant fusion.

Most of all though, I'm sad we haven't gotten a kuroneko-sama cameo yet. 😭

I'm looking forward to seeing how many of my predictions come true and how the story ends up fitting together!

Trigun Maximum vol 1 was the first manga I ever bought and seeing Lina approaching Eriks like that lit up my nostalgia extra brightly.

I hope the Eriks arc means we'll also get the Vash full-body reveal 👀

I love Stampede's choice to actually show what happened at July in full (rather than through fragmented flashbacks) and to use it as a jumping off point for the timeskip.
