A loud clang rang out as the bat made contact with Updike’s head. He fell back down into the trash, his wick going out as he made contact. His eyes slowly shut, the glowing shapes disappearing as his eyes returned to normal. A minute or so later, his breathing was more calm...
Updike was sitting against the wall of the quiet alleyway, legs pulled up to his chest as he gripped his head. Different, black shapes flashed in his eyes as black tears spilled from them. He breathed heavily, seemingly stressed. He hadn’t even seemed to notice that his wick was lit. @explosiveclouds-and-fluffybombs

Updike growled, the anger and stress was getting worse, his head pounding now. His wick got a little bit brighter. He couldn’t take it anymore…
“AHHH! WHY DON’T YOU JUST FUCK OFF! I JUST WANT TO FIND WHITMORE! MY WHITMORE! I JUST WANT MY GOD DAMN BODY BACK! YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW WRONG BEING LIKE THIS FEELS!”
More tears streamed down his face as the shapes in his eyes flashed brighter and faster. He managed to stand up.
““PLEASE, JUST GO AWAY!”
He was breathing heavily, looking angry and stressed. The effect on his voice seemed to increase.

Updike cried out in pain again from the kick, but slowly got up afterwards and looked at whitty.
It took him a moment to register his appearance, due to his tears and stress, but once he did, he glared at him.
““You’re. not. him...”

Updike cried out in pain at the explosion as he fell to the ground, but it didn’t hurt as much as he had expected. He then gripped his stomach, expecting it to be messed up. And sure his suit was certainly burnt and messed up, his actual stomach was pretty ok. Must of been a benefit of this body...

His eyes shot open at the sudden sound. His gaze darted around, trying to find the source.
“Whitmore, if that’s you, you better show yourself!”
To be honest, he had no idea who or what actually made the sound. He was just tense.

Updike opened his eyes more, not having noticed whitty yet. Somehow?
Seems like he decided to try standing. He closed his eyes again as he slowly started standing up, his entire body shaking a little as he gripped the wall.

Updike took deep breaths, or at least, did his best to. He hissed through his own teeth, closing his eyes for a moment before opening them a little.

Updike waved goodbye to tempest as they hurried off. He turned around and decided to just go back to his TGG for now. Luckily he would actually get there, despite the whole ‘‘alternate universe’ thing.
Updike was walking down the alleyway, hiding in shadows as he searched for whitmore. What he didn’t expect to see was another person who looked like him. Well, looked like how he used to. He was still in the shadows as he looked at them, slightly confused. They hadn’t seemed to notice him yet. -@explosiveclouds-and-fluffybombs
Tempest was taking a bit of a walk. He was going over the logistics of either shutting down the company or shifting its activities. He had a good amount of capital so he didn’t want to just waste it, but that might be harder than just cutting his losses… In any case, he wasn’t lost enough in his thoughts for him to miss the odd bomblike figure. He stopped for a moment, blinked, and decided it was absolutely none of his business what the fresh hell was going on, continuing to walk as if nothing had happened.

Updike reached over and gently pat tempest on the head.
“I understand how that can be horrifying, like you said. Our line of work, understandably, can lead to things that the average person wouldn’t experience...”

Updike nodded.
““I will note that advice and keep it in mind. Especially since it sounds like you’re speaking from experience.”

““that’s good.”
Updike pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. He wrote down the number to his office and handed it to tempest.
““call this if you gather any information you think will be useful. It will be important to keep each other updated.”

Updike looked over the sketch, a small smile appeared on his face for a second before he went back to his serious expression.
““that is certainly accurate enough.”

Updike glanced away for a moment before looking back at tempest.
““help would be… appreciated.”
He cleared his throat.
““while I don’t completely know what the anomaly looks like, I will tell you what I know. It was large and black, it might have not had legs, but I’m not sure. It had black horns, claws, and glowing deep, yet bright pink eyes. It’s mouth glowed a deep, yet bright pink as well. It was slightly obscured by shadow as well, so the colors I said may not even be completely accurate… Unfortunately for the both of us, that all I could see before we were blasted and it ran off…”

““yes, it does.”
The annoyance in his voice wasn’t directed at the other Updike, just at his own situation.
““You see, I had chased whitmore into an alleyway. I was going to try and stop him, when an anomaly that neither of us recognized suddenly attacked us. It didn’t hurt us, but rather blasted us with something. Before either of us could fully understand our situation, the blast had caused us to switch what we were. I was too in shock, and sore, to go after whitmore as he managed to run off...”
He sighed.
““now I’m a bombhead and he’s the cloud. My current goals are to find whitmore and capture him, and to also find and capture the anomaly that did this to us, so it can turn us back...”

Updike took a second to process the information he was told.
““it’s… basic. I’m still trying to find whitmore, even more now since the incident…”
