“Hey Junnie, can we go to that new coffee shop that’s opened down the street?” you whined at your friend, who just had just gotten up from you constantly spamming his phone. Now you're his face in his kitchen as he tries to drink the coffee he’s just made. You really test his patience but you were one of his closest friends, and he loved you for your hyper energy, he just wishes he was like that first thing in the morning.

“Sure, let me just go get dressed and we’ll make our way down shortly,” he replied, smiling tiredly as you start getting excited, “Thank you!” you shout from the kitchen as he drags himself to the bedroom to go get changed into something decent to leave the house in. 

You really didn’t have a clue how much he’d do for you, to keep you happy. He’s loved you since he laid his eyes on you, however not had the confidence to say as much. He didn’t want to ruin the friendship you had, he treasured it so much but he couldn’t help but wish he had the confidence to say something to you before you start to fall for someone else as that would break him. 

“Hurry up!” you shout again, as he walks into the kitchen, arms crossed against his chest as he scoffs at you, “Carry on shouting at me to rush me, and we WILL not be getting coffee~,” he says firmly but with a smile on his face, unable to hide the fact he found your pouts extremely adorable as you leaned over the kitchen counter, bottom lip out and with puppy eyes. 

The minute you catch him picking up his keys, you run to him all excitedly, putting your arm around his as you leave the house, Junmyeon making sure he locks it properly before taking another step. Once everything was locked, you made your way.

It was only a 10-minute walk down to the shop, however, it felt like forever to you, but not long enough for him. The excitement builds even more in you when you catch a glimpse of the coffee shop, very pleased to see how aesthetically pleasing it looked, very hipster and very up your alley. Your mouth started watering, wondering how good the coffee would be as you get closer.

The smell of coffee could be smelt from a mile away, not only that, but it was obvious they made their own sweet treats in the cafe, as you could smell freshly made cookies and cakes that looked as good as they smelt as you made your way to the counter of the shop. 

The baristas are very welcoming and were very happy to see new faces in their new shop. As you got to the till, you shook your hands with excitement as you looked up at Junmyeon, “I need to have one of the cookies, they look great!” you say, as he smiles, pulling out his bank card. “I’ll have two vanilla lattes, and two of your cookies please?” he orders as you smile and shake with anticipation. Thanking him to the skies when you receive your cookie, taking a seat to wait for the drinks which follow not long behind.

You were in absolute awe after tasting the cookies, which were the size of your hand, topped with biscoff spread and white chocolate in the middle, whilst the coffee complimented them perfectly. It was safe to say that you were going to be a regular in this cafe, and Junmyeon couldn’t disagree that it was the best coffee and cookies he’s also had in a long time. 

Sticking to that, the both of you go at least once a day, maybe even a second if you really needed a pick me up coffee. You had gone through the entire drinks menu in under two weeks, and not only that, but you started to become good friends with the baristas behind the bar. 

Though this was great for you, Junmyeon couldn’t help but get jealous but notice that you were very flirty with the other barista, who was very flirty back. He tried to push it off, knowing that it was probably just some regular banter but after a few weeks, he noticed that the barista had written his number on one of your takeaway cups.

From being shocked and happily surprised, you tried to show Jumyeon who smiled briefly, though trying to not show that he was upset about it on his face, it was very obvious to you that he wasn’t okay. 

“Jun, you okay?” you ask, concerned as you placed your hand over his that had a clasp on his own cup, looking up at him with a shy smile. He nods but he tries to ignore eye contact as he takes a sip of coffee, trying to ignore this moment. He knew he had to confess or just let the love of his life fall for someone else. “Jun, please be honest with me,” you beg as you could see that his face was falling into a small pout.

“Come on, let’s go for a walk?” he says, and you agree, following him out of the shop as you walk towards the nearest park. There were moments of silence between you both as he tried to think what the best way to tell you about how he felt was. But there was no right way or right time. He knew he needed to just be honest with you.

Before you could even open your mouth to speak, he stops and turns to you, taking your hand sweetly, “Y/N, I need you to listen to me for a moment okay?” you nod in reply, looking at him with confusion in your eyes but with patience, “I really like you, in fact, I love you. And I don’t know how much longer I can go without confessing to you before you fall for someone else and I get left behind.”

Your heart breaks from his confession, you could never leave him behind, he’s your first love, and admittedly, you thought you were never good enough for him, “Jun-” you try to speak but he accidentally interrupts, “I know, I’m sorry. This is stupid,” you shake your head vigorously as you grab both of his hands.

“Jun, let me finish. I love you too, and I was worried you’d find someone else to replace me with, not only as your best friend but your love”. He smiles sweetly, relieved that he didn’t mess things up with you from confessing. In fact, this made his absolute day, week, month and his entire life. Those words that fell out of your mouth sounded like music to him as he pulls you in for a hug.

“Did you get jealous because the barista gave me his number?” you teased as he sighs, playing cool, “No, not me. I don’t get jealous?”. You tap his arm lightly as you both laugh, enjoying this moment that’ll be a memory for the both of you forever.
