children existing in public spaces is genuinely like. necessary for the continuation of society. it doesnt have to be your kids you dont have to volunteer at a daycare or whatever but you need to be able to tolerate the presence of someone who is learning how to exist as a human and interact with people
I find it funny that Chilchuck’s entire point implies that romantic/sexual attraction can and will be influenced by who is putting their hands on them as a healer, regardless of their gender. He points this out when both the healer and the afflicted in question are men, explaining it as a pragmatic approach to why Laios and Senshi may be uncomfortable.
It’s a valid point that relationships can get messy due to a healer needing physical contact for their skills to work. But a healer working on someone of the same gender, told through a straight lens, could easily be written off as “it’ll be easier for me if another man does it, because I won’t be attracted to him,” or something like that. But no, Chilchuck treats same-gender interactions with the same level of risk for romantic or sexual entanglements.
He’s just speaking from his own experiences, after all.
i like how in fallout 76 with some of the cryptids there's these very thoughtful and lore-friendly scifi explanations, i.e. the snallygaster is the result of FEV experimentation, the flatwoods monster is a zetan in a floating suit and its silhouette creates that iconic flatwoods monster image, etc. and then mothman is fully just a giant divine moth.
Tbh if I were a right winger looking to torpedo queer spaces, the no kink at pride people would be the torpedo. Sanitizing our community, or segments thereof, confines us to mediocrity imo
Exactly, and I have no doubt they've already started doing this.
We all know why callout posts and such are bullshit, but at the very minimum, if you truly believe someone has been doing something harmful for your community / space and you write up a whole thing about it and try to get it out there... Sorry but you HAVE to prove the accusations you're talking about?
I saw a whole thing that's apparently happening on the twitter indie authors community this morning, never heard of anyone involved before someone put the 'callout' thread on my timeline, and reading it to try to figure out what happened left me very confused because there was absolutely no real proof of the accused person's wrongdoing at all. Just a claim that they were lying about their identity, and vague accusations of bullying/harassment. The rest of it was proof linking various pennames and accounts back to the same person, which is not proof of anything else - From the outside looking in, without having seen any actual documented wrongdoing, it literally just looks like a bunch of stalking. Including sharing this person's legal name, and potential deadname?
Because yeah, this all seems to be about a trans man who wrote some controversial dark fiction which... Makes me even more suspicious of the whole thing, sorry. We know how that one usually goes.
This person might be guilty, and a real asshole, I don't know. But I am extremely wary of these types of callouts and you should be too. I think it's good to read them and think for yourself. Is any of what's provided actual proof of the claims? Are the accusations specific or vague? What does this situation look like if we don't uncritically assume guilt?
This just happens to trans people too often online to just accept the first thing you read as the truth tbh.
By the time a Marine pulled into a little town, every hotel room was taken. “You’ve got to have a room somewhere,” he pleaded. “Or just a bed, I don’t care where."
"Well, I do have a double room with one occupant, a Navy guy,” admitted the manager, “and he might be glad to split the cost. But to tell you the truth, he snores so loudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. I’m not sure it’d be worth it to you.” “No problem,” the tired Marine assured him. “I’ll take it.” The next morning the Marine came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. “How’d you sleep?” Asked the manager. “Never better.” The manager was impressed. “No problem with the other guy snoring, then?” “Nope, I shut him up in no time.” Said the Marine. “How’d you manage that?” asked the manager. “He was already in bed, snoring away, when I came in the room,” the Marine explained. “I went over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, said, ‘Goodnight, beautiful,’ and he sat up all night watching me.”
