Amy: Today your assignment is for you and your crew to find more articles of the past. Also see Knuckles' assignment. Knuckles: Today your assignment is to find food and clean water. The encampment is running low and we need more supplies for ourselves. I trust that-- That's it. I'm not going to write any more of that. It should be enough for the people checking our mail to pass it off. Your assignment today is to track Patient 0. We can last a few more weeks without a refresh, we'll be fine. If you happen to find supplies, bring them back of course. But other than that, I would like to resume my search for Patient 0. Thank you.

written month 4, day 2 of the infection. Amy Rose, Knuckles, and Dr. Prower have been told (once again) that tracking or attempting to contain Patient 0 is far too dangerous for the future of the encampment. We cannot focus on a cure just yet. We simply need to survive. It doesn't help that Patient 0 is the most aggressive of all executables. Upon recovery and return of 1-WR, the young Dr. Prower simply waved off his compatriots and the article before shutting himself in his laboratory. Questioning Amy Rose about the encounter, she conceded that "Nobody can really blame him for not wanting anything to do with the articles." and that "He is a very strong person, and that he'll be fine." Will continue to monitor.

PLEASE READ BEFORE ENGAGING! THIS IS AN INFECTION AU!

WHAT ARE THE EXECUTABLES?

The nature of the virus is a big part of the story, so I'm not going to spoil a lot of it, but here are some of the basics!

There are many names for the virus, each faction calling it something different. However, there is one common term for the infected. EXECUTABLES, or EXES for short.

The disease causes extremely rapid mental and physical degradation, but even then the infected are immensely strong. Symptoms include exponential increase of appetite, aggression, restlessness, bleeding from most if not every orifice, and self mutilation of the eyes and face.

HOWEVER. The disease seems to increase adrenaline, and in a way, determination and grit. If an infected wants something dead, they're GOING to kill it, making the Executables EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. They can survive most lethal attacks, the only way to well and truly kill them is to crush, shoot, or remove the head. Even then, their bodies will live for a few moments longer.

Nobody has a clue how the disease started. Whether it's a dormant parasite in Patient 0, a mutation of a pre-existing disease, or some kind of out-of-control bio-weapon manufactured by Robotnik, the survivors have better things to worry about. Survival, and a potential cure. The disease spreads through bites (specifically the saliva) or consuming infected meat.
