I want to make a start up screen before the player gets into game that shows the name of the game and then the controls on how to play the game.
These are the icons that I made for the start up screen to show the player how to play the game.
I'll have those icons show after this title screen has finished, once everything has been shown it will put the player straight into the game. I think I'll have something pop up after the controls of the game saying something like "Find the keys..." so the player has some idea on what to do rather than walking around aimlessly.
Hopefully this is enough for the player to understand what to do. Now I just need to put these into a start up screen, I'll do this by doing some animations in the widget and have each part fade in and out and once they have all played then the player will be put into the game.
I've made a widget and put the title screen in with it anchored to the middle of the screen. I now want to animate it, I think a fade in and out of each part will be good.
I'll add a key frame where the opacity is set to zero so the player can't see it.
After 1 second I'll change the opacity back to one so it will fade in and then back to zero after another second. I'll repeat this process for all the other bits of information the player needs.
I've added a black background so the player can see the white text.
To attach it to the player I add the animation I made to the players viewport, and add a delay for 7.5 seconds because that's how long the animation lasts and then remove it from the player's screen so they can play the game.
I tried to model my version of the blood starved beast from Bloodborne but I found it to challenging because of the way that it looks in the game it just doesn't work in the form of voxels so I've had to scrap that idea.
So I was just looking at more demons and I found one that looks creepy and is very simple to do.
I just think the blank expression with the extremely wide eyes go hand-in-hand
I think this is turning out good so far, my next idea is to have the body be an open rib cage, still deciding on what to do for the legs but I'll wait to see how the rest turns out.
This is what I have so far, I am going to see how it looks with the body hollow and go from there.
I finished hollowing out the middle, I think it works so I am going to keep it, I also think it might be a good idea to just have one long arm and the other a lot shorter. For the legs I couldn't do anything that I liked so I decided that there will be no legs and it will float.
This is what I have come up with and I think its a good creepy demon to hover in the bedroom waiting for the player.
Unfortunately I won't be able to get any code for this to work because I don't have anytime left. But I am happy that I got the model finished and happy with how it looks.
It's slightly different to what I said I wanted but, I have modelled a clown that will be in the maze. I have given it abnormally long arms so it looks a bit more creepy, and I have the idea to make it's eyes glow and I think that it will add to the creepiness of it.
I also think that I could add a box collision in front of it and when the player walks through it, it plays a creepy laughing track.
I've got the eyes glowing and I think it definitely adds to it and will look even better in the dark.
To get the eyes to glow I singled out the colour of the eyes and then put that into a multiply with any number (higher numbers = more brightness) and then plug that into emissive colour which then makes that colour glow.
I starting to model the bedroom and can hopefully get that finished and imported by the end of today. I want it to have everything a generic bedroom would have so a bed (obviously), bed side tables, maybe some posters or other decorations, and a wardrobe.
I added what I wanted and I think it turned out good I might add a rug in the middle of the floor because it feels bare.
I've put the character in bed, it's nothing special but I think it's funny so I want to keep it. I have also thought that the empty space in front of the bed can be used for the monster to stand. Or I could have it standing over the bed.
In my proposal I said that the maze would be in the character's house and currently the maze is just all black so I am going to change the maze to make it more like a house, maybe add some house decorations as well.
I changed the floor to a brown colour to make it look more like a wood flooring, and then the walls are just a standard blue. I'll see how this looks in game then I can change it if I don't like the colours.
I think this looks much better than what I had before I just need to put some decorations in the maze so it isn't so baron when the player is walking around.
I made some painting that I can dot around the maze, I am also planning to make a mirror(won't be reflective in game), and some house plants.
They are very simple but I think they are enough for what I need, I just need to import them all and then put them in different places in the maze.
Looking at what I set out to achieve on my proposal, I am on track to complete what I set out to make. I need to model the bedroom and the monsters to go with it and that is everything on a base level to have my MVP completed.
So by the end of this week I want all the models I need done, and anything else that the requires for it to become a MVP.
Currently I have everything working in the way that I want, I still have a few more things to model but the game has no sounds / music. I want to get this added so the game isn't silent and adds to the eeriness of the game. The bare minimum for me is to find a good sound for footsteps and some eerie music, and a door creaking open for the bedroom should be good.
Before I do the bedroom I want to get the door done and for the code for it to work. It shouldn't take to long because I don't need a fancy door.
I need to add tags to the keys when I get them dropped in so the player can't go straight to the end and skip the maze. For the timeline I currently have it set to 2 seconds but that can always change if I think it is to fast/slow.
I currently have this as a place holder for the key, I wanted to get the code working first before I made any models for the key. I have this cube around the maze 3 times and the player has to pick it up before they can open the door.
This is the key I modeled it was a quick design, my idea was to make a skull looking key and I came up with this, its simple but it works so it is what I will use.
