Yeah Manga/Season 0 Yami Yugi was next level dark on a regular basis. And lets not forget Yami Bakura. Stabs Ryou Bakura in the chest with the prongs of the millennium, gouged his hand with a castle spire when Ryou took back control in his hand, and stabbed Ryou in the arm to keep him weak enough for Marik to control in the Manga/Japanese dub. Plus this spirit also actively manipulated and threatened Ryou's friends if he didn't comply and put the ring on.

Marik's punishments for his rare hunter's loses were quite cruel too. And there was also the fact that to keep Yugi from refusing to duel Joey, he took control of Tea and kept a cyanide capsule in her teeth that she would be forced to bite down on if Yugi/Yami Yugi failed to comply with this duel.

Yeah, the anime really made some changes to keep the series kid friendly.

I've been rereading the YuGiOh! manga and I love this freak. I wish they had kept him at this level of creepy for the entire series

I want to add on that this is Sartorius' second voice actor, his first VA was Maddie Blaustein, who was also the original VA for Meowth in the pokemon dub prior to Maddie's passing years ago.

Did you know that Sartorius Kumar, Aigami, Dennis, Gong, Ryoken and Gore have the same Voice Actor?

And this same guy voiced Revolver too! Like, DANG. This man has some insane range!
