“men don’t like when women dress like that. men don’t like when you do your makeup like that. men don’t like how straightforward you are”
good. i hope they don’t. i hope they find it absolutely appalling. i don’t want to attract a lesser being whose only purpose in history has been to bring destruction and disease. my beauty is something that cannot be comprehended by those who are familiar with barbarism. i don’t want to be touched by hands stained with the blood of war.

Jane Austen really said ‘I respect the “I can fix him” movement but that’s just not me. He’ll fix himself if knows what’s good for him’ and that’s why her works are still calling the shots today.

what if there was a river and what if we both wanted more than anything to cross it. and you've been in the water, you can swim, but i can't. for some odd unfathomable reason, you agree to take me across. you have nothing to gain from this. you do it anyway. and i still can't swim and you're taking me across the river and i realize how deep the water is, and how fast the river is moving. and you say you'll take me across the river safely but right here and now, you've brought me into the middle of it, and i realize i could drown at any second. i realize you have the power to drown me at any second.
what option is there other than to point my stinger at your neck? between you killing me and us killing each other there's no winning, but in the middle of those two things there's us, still alive, treading water. we both want to cross the river but what everyone wants, instinctually, is to stay alive. and maybe we'll drown before we reach the opposite bank. maybe we'll get there and the fact you can swim won't mean anything anymore, and i'll kill you. maybe we'll get there and realize there was nothing there in the first place, that we went through all this for nothing.
right now we are in the water, and you can swim, and i can't, and neither of us can kill the other without killing ourself as well, and neither of us can live without the other being alive, and isn't it a kind of love, a kind of marriage, to need each other like that, to tie our fates together so inextricably that we might as well be one person

i hate you romantically involved characters who talk to each other like they’re in a couples counseling session, i hate you watering down of the word toxic, i hate you plot twists where the male love interest is actually a villain because see, silly girl? in the REAL world guys like that are DANGEROUS, i hate you relationship therapist breaks down movie couple’s relationship videos, i hate you “romeo and juliet were just stupid horny teenagers” “belle had stockholm syndrome” “wuthering heights isn’t romantic” hot takes, i hate you sanitization of romance in fiction
