Bio
My name is Eragon and I am a 16 year old boy from the Carvahall area. I grew up on a small farm with my uncle Garrow and cousin Roran. Roran is currently my only living relative.
I am the first Dragon Rider in centuries and, along with my dragon Saphira, I intend to seek revenge for the death of my uncle who was murdered by the henchmen of  the land’s corrupted king. This desire has led me on an extraordinary quest across Alagaesia and brought me closer then ever before to discovering my destiny.

The Journey of a Lifetime
I must be brief as we are only stopping here to rest for a short while, but much has happened in the last few months and I will try my best to fill you in. Brom, my dragon Saphira and I embarked on a mission of revenge after the king’s men destroyed my farm and took the life of my uncle. We have traveled from village to village, obtaining fine steads was one of the first things we did. Snowfire is Brom’s stead and I have named my own Codac after my grandfather. As much as I love to ride Saphira, she is not yet large enough to carry both Brom and I so we have traveled only as fast as the horses can manage in search of news on my uncles’ killers. Being the newest dragon rider in centuries has led to us encounter pillaging Urgals and some close calls with unfriendly villagers as well. Brom’s company on my trip has been quite a comfort however. The story teller knows more about dragons then I thought possible, and though he won’t relay much of his past to me I am learning much. It seems that the connection between Saphira and I is stronger then I imagined. Some of her powers of magic have been gifted to me, and I am slowly learning the necessary words and exercises necessary to control this power and use it for our benefit. We have made it across a great plain at the base of the Spine mountains now and are preparing to leave the home of an old friend of Brom’s who lives in and has access to shipment records in a large coastal city named Teirm. Through our findings here we have been able to track a specific item the king’s men are known to possess, and I got an added bonus. Yesterday I met with a witch, or woman of the sort, who had the ability to tell me my fate. I have learned much in Teirm about the choices in my future but I am still not sure exactly where my path lies. The only options I have are to give my allegiance to a corrupted king, or support a group of rebels who will use me to fight the empire. Hopefully my path will become clearer soon.

Legend of the Dragon Riders Return
The strangest thing happened the other night, I still can’t get my head around it. Garrow suggested that we bring the stone with us on our trip to Carvahall City a week ago, and I readily agreed with him. We go to meet with traders who make an appearance once a year in our valley, and together with the stone we spent time with a particular merchant who specialized in expensive goods and jewelry. To my slight dismay we found that the stone was not worth anything to him either and when we got home, thinking that was the end of that, I stashed it in my room. A few night ago I awoke suddenly to a loud, unfamiliar noise seemingly coming from the stone. To my utter amazement, it began to crack open! It seems that the stone I had found wasn’t actually a stone at all, but the egg for the most amazing creature. A dragon. I know that it’s unwise to keep this from Garrow and Roran but I can’t bear the idea of giving up my new companion, especially after my latest discovery about it. It seems that when I first touched my dragon it changed something about me. It caused not only a strange mark on my hand, but I have realized that I can speak to the dragon as well. Not verbally, but through some sort of mental connection we share.  Currently I have the sapphire colored dragon hidden in the woods on the farm, in a small shelter I’ve created for it, but my limited knowledge on how to care for dragons is starting to worry me. I think I’ll visit town with Roran in the next few days to stop by the storyteller Brom’s home. If anyone will know dragon history, it is him.

The Adventure Begins...
Sure it’s true that the Spine is unpredictable and dangerous to venture into, but as an experienced hunter from a poor farm family the risk is always worth the reward for me. Two days ago, as I headed into the mountains, I came to a clearing in the woods chasing a rather large group of deer. I had almost gotten them too when I noticed a large dark blue stone had been concealed there; it was both ovular and extremely smooth to the touch. Well, thinking the stone may hold some value I decided to carry it back into the village with me, hoping to use it as a bargaining tool for some meat. Uncle Garrow had instructed me to trade the game I shot for as much meat as possible with the cranky butcher Sloan, so the first place I headed was to his shop on the outside of town. Awful man, Sloan, but he normally gives me a decent price if I don’t stay long, and my cousin Roran fancies his daughter so he’s accustomed to my family’s business. Angered by the fact I hadn’t gotten any new meat for him, I quickly offered him the odd stone instead. I couldn’t believe it but the old butcher tried to kick me out of his store, calling me filthy names for finding it in the Spine! If the blacksmith Horst hadn’t stepped in on my behalf I probably would have punched Sloan. I was displeased that Horst paid for my meat, but he took me by surprise when he asked me to work with him in the spring to repay the debt. It’s a great honor, I can’t wait to get back home to tell Garrow and Roran, as well as ask them what to do with this odd stone. Wonder where such a thing came from…
