So as you may remember, back in January my grandfather Robert A Stonum passed. He was an avid Case tractor collector. These last 3 days were what I have been dreading since his passing. Years of his hard work farming, helping the citizens of Lawson and nearby counties through MFA, and his passion for restoring Case tractors of the past came to a complete close today. Over the last 3 days his shop and the tractors that I grew up around were all auctioned. I will always have the memories and a few pictures but the things that I relate to my grandpa most were his Case tractors. His work horse Case Comfort King 1030, parade and show tractors (restored by him) Case 400 and Case SC have went to people that admired him most. The work horse 1030 will continue to be what I have always knew it was, and help Bernie to work the land. Grandpa's pride and joy tractors (400 & SC) were purchased by members of the Lathrop Antique Tractor Club in order to showcase his hard work and dedication, to keeping the history of farming and working the land alive. They plan to honor him with the tractors being on display for everyone to see just like he enjoyed showing them and parading them. Grandpa had many tractors besides these and enjoyed working on them all. So if you enjoy learning about history or the machines that work the land to provide food for you, head to the Lathrop Antique Show Grounds. There are plenty of machines and many that I know my grandfather had hands in restoring and resurrecting on display including these two that mean so much to me.
