he manages not to audibly yell shit!, but his eyes do widen quite a bit. there is a moment where he considers picking auggie up and carrying him to the bathroom, but wonders if that will just make him feel worse. so instead, he pulls over the closest trash can.

it seems like it should be an easy question, and instead? it feels like they are opening his chest right up and staring in, or reading his thoughts somehow. his throat feels a little bit tight, and it takes him a second longer to reply to this than he normally might.

"well, i might not say anything at all. if there was no one around to hear it." which maybe sounds a lot sadder than he expected it to. "But... well, I guess uh... I've always kind of wanted to scream. Kinda." Sort of. It is a mixed kind of wanting.

see i want to work on expanding my vocabulary as i write bear because. he's def autistic and i think language might be a special interest of his.....

he's not sure if bobbie means being shot or coming back from the dead, but either way, he nods his head. "i mean, if it makes you feel better... i think i've seen weirder." of course, he says think, because bobbie is really giving him a run for his money here. "so it's like... less absurd and uh... i guess.. tragic? sad? one of those words."

Bear almost looked like he belonged there, at the gas station at the edge of Palmyra. He had a soft face, gentle brown eyes and messy brown hair that was always covered with a cap. In some ways, he looked relatively average, but other features added a bit of mystery. There was the big scar that sat on his right cheek, right underneath his eye. And the fact that he worked at a shitty little gas station in Palymra, and seemed to enjoy it. That was definitely weird.

But the truth was that Bear enjoyed his job. He enjoyed seeing his regular customers come through every day, or every week. He enjoyed meeting new people from out of town, even if they were only ever going to stop in once, and never again. Despite the place he was working in, Bear considered himself to be quite friendly, and most people seemed to like him alright. He was one of the few things that might have made the stop to Palmyra worth it.

he hadn't really meant to use the powers, and he really wishes that he hadn't now that eyes had been on him. but to bear jones, it felt the same way that reaching out with a hand might. instinctive. "uh... what d'you want me to say? this is some kind of a joke?" words are a bit prickly, and cheeks are flushed bright with embarrassment. maybe a little fear. "can you... stop staring, maybe?"

hair clings to the sides of his face, and he wonders if he's going to get sick. lenny is always warning him about that, but bear has never seen it happen. had no reason to get out of the rain, other than it being cold, and tally looking at him like he was absolutely crazy for standing in it.

"sorry. i uh... don't wanna like..." he glances down to the floor, where water is beginning to pool around him in small puddles. "it was just nice out."
