You've Reached Sam by Dustin Thao 5 star
Tumblr media
This is the first book this author has written and let me tell you, he hit it out of the ball park!!!!!!! It was a home run & an absolute 5 star. This beautiful story between Julie and Sam made me sob uncontrollably.. Although the story is written in present day, we do get to see glimpses of the relationship between Julie & Sam prior to his death. As Julie mourns the loss of Sam she decides to call his cellphone, just to hear his voice one last time but is shocked when he actually answer his cellphone. Julie & Sam quickly fall back into their routine of talking every day. At some point in time they both realize that this could not continue to go on forever & that it needed to end so they could both move on in life & in death. It was extremely difficult for me to see them make that final decision. Thank you NetGalley & Wednesday Books for giving me an eARC. I 100% recommend this book.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams DNF at 56%
Tumblr media
This is my second book by Taylor Adams. I was hoping for another 5 stars but sadly it didn't hit the mark & I ended up DNFing at 56%. I did enjoy the dual perspectives. I felt like the perspective of Cambry was more gripping than the perspective of her sister Lena. That's what kept me reading. The mystery surrounding Cambry's death and what may or may not have led to it was interesting and confusing at times. Over time it got repetitive the further I got into the book. Overall, it was just not the book for me therefore I didn't complete it.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey 3 star
Tumblr media
Let me start by saying this is the first book in a new series by Tessa Bailey. There are two main characters. Piper is the first character we meet. She lives in California and she comes from a rich family. After an unfortunate event, Piper is sent packing to a small town in Westport, Washington. While there she meets Brendan. He is a local fisherman who is very set in his ways and nobody is going to change that, until, he meets Piper. What starts off as an extremely rude first meeting turns into a gradual friendship. As time goes by this friendship turns into something neither one of them ever expected. Throughout this story, you will meet a bunch of other characters that you grow to love.

Better Together by Christine Riccio DNF at 18%
Tumblr media
DNF at 18% This book just did not click with me. Both of the main characters just annoyed me beyond belief. There were certain things about the plot that bothered me. I really wanted to enjoy this book because I loved the movie "Parent Trap", as a child, as well as, the movie "Freaky Friday". Overall, I just could not get into this book no matter how hard I tried.

A Change in tide by Freya Barker DNF at 7%

DNF at 7% I hated the male narrator's voice. It was not my cup of tea! I did not like all of the explicit content. It made me feel very uncomfortable listening to it. I really wanted to like this book but I just couldn't"t

The Shadows by Alex North DNF at 50%
Tumblr media
I started this book in 2020 and read 51%. I have finally decided not to continue reading it. I did not care for the plot nor did I understand it. I realized that the more I read this book the more confused I became. I really wanted to love this book but I think the author is just not for me.

The new girl vol 1 of elles 5 star
Tumblr media
I really liked the way this book tackled the topic of multiple personality disorder. The art style in this graphic novel was stunning it also helped the reader differentiate between all of the different personalities that Elle has throughout this book. There is also a subplot that is a mystery surrounding Elle's family. I can not wait to read the next volume from this series. I am super excited!!!

Where there’s a whisk by Sarah J. Schmitt 5 star
Tumblr media
This is a new favorite of mine. I got super "Chopped" vibes from this book. All of the characters were fantastic and the friendships they built over the course of the competition were beautiful. The producer, Caitlin, was very conniving with setting up unnecessary drama in the group. The romance between two of the characters was so heartwarming it made me feel all fuzzy and warm inside. All of the different challenges were so unique and fun to watch. Getting to hear about all of the dishes that they made was making me very hungry. This book is a definite 5 star and I most definitely will be reading the author"s first book. I'm so excited and I can not wait to get my hands on it.

The Switch by Beth O’Leary 4 star
Tumblr media
I really liked both narrators because they both brought the story to life in their own unique voices. The story was super fun and made me chuckle quite a few times while also having some emotional moments as well. Out of the two main characters in this story my favorite was most definitely Grandma Eileen. I’m saying that I didn’t enjoy Leena but Granny was definitely funnier. I knew where one particular story line was going the moment we met a certain character. Overall I give this book 4 stars.

Tales of Nash by Ann worthington 5 star
Tumblr media
This is the author's debut book. I want to start by saying that I absolutely loved this story immensely. This book had me sitting at the edge of my seat. Due to certain circumstances, that almost all teenagers face these days, Nash's mother had to send him away to live with his grandfather and leave all of his friends and problems behind so he could wipe the slate clean and start all over. Nash had a very difficult time being away from his home and friends. Nash's relationship with his grandfather was very rocky at first but a bond slowly grew between Nash and his grandfather which was unbelievably heartwarming. The relationship that developed between them reminds me of my own relationship with both of my grandfathers. I like how the then/now chapters are both so compelling. Unfortunately, Nash goes through a tragic and heartwrenching experience with his grandfather. This tragic event changes Nash's life forever.

Tumblr media
This short story collection was a hit and miss for me. I wished some of the stories were a lot longer and some I wished were a lot shorter. I was introduced to a few new author's that I'm looking forward to reading more from. Here is a list of the stories I enjoyed the most:
Negative Creep by Alvaro Zinos-Amaro
Helluloid by Dayton Ward & Kevin Dilmore
Creature Feature by Gary Jonas
The Devil's Reel by Sean Eads & Joshua Viola
On The Rocks By K. Nicole Davis
Coming Attractions By Stephen Graham Jones
I have given all of the above short stories 4 stars

Killer Keep Secrets by James Huddle 5 star
Tumblr media
This book was very imformative for someone who didn"t know that much about the Golden State Killer. Seeing Joe from Jame's perspective was vey interesting because there were so many red flags that were ignored. If Jame's had mentioned or shared some of the red flags he was seeing than maybe Joe would have been caught sooner and there would have been less crimes committed. I liked that at the end of the book we got some information on other killers who had similar traits.

Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher 5 star
Tumblr media
This book is an incredible debut I felt so many different emotions while reading this book.! I can not imagine losing my best friend. The author depicts a tremendous amount of grief, in this book, and shows you how someone's death can make you question your future. .The slow-burn romance between Amelia and Nolan is both beautiful and sad. Anyone who reads this book will thoroughly enjoy this incredible book. I know I absolutely did and I believe anyone who decides to read this book will as well.

The Project by Courtesy Summers 5 star
Tumblr media
This book gives you an inside look at what it's like to be involved with a colt and the way a colt leader can manipulate other people's minds and souls to the point where they question everything about themselves and the way the world works. This story follows two different timelines involving two sisters, Bea and Lo, You get to read about the path that each sister takes, past and present. This book deals heavily with religion. I personally am not a huge fan of this but I understand why it needed to be in the book. I really did enjoy reading this book. I give it a 5-star rating and I plan on buying a copy when it comes out. Thank you, NetGalley, for putting this book in the read now section. This book is one of my most anticipated released books for 2021

a house at the bottom of a lake by Josh Malerman 3 star
Tumblr media
Overall I like the book but I would have liked to have found out more about the house prior to it being at the bottom of the third lake. There were definitely some ominous moments where things did not make any sense to me. I felt like the relationship between Amelia and James seemed very rushed. I don't know if it was due to the fact that the book was so short and they needed their characters to connect quickly but needless to say, I didn't feel the love. I liked the book but maybe I would have liked it a bit more if it was longer and they provided more of a back story of the characters and the house.

Dear girl by Aija Mayrock 5 star
Tumblr media
This is a poetry book for women. It deals with a lot of different topics such as the #me-too movement, the right for a woman to decide who she wants to share her body with, as well as, a woman's right to be heard, just to name a few. I really liked that the book was narrated by the author because it made it feel more impactful coming from her the way she wanted it to come across.
