mr. malcolm’s list has wrapped - onward to emily!

according to this instagram post from director emma holly jones, today was the last day of the cast and crew working on mr. malcolm’s list. 

oliver will next be heading to yorkshire to work on the emily bronte biopic emily starring emma mackey and fionn whitehead. according to local twitter sightings, pre-production for emily is already underway. 

in emily oliver will play william weightman, jr., a close friend of the bronte family. it’s my personal speculation that william is the romantic lead, and the film will lean heavy on the popular theory that both emily and anne bronte were in love with him. joe alwyn had been previously announced for the role but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

emily is the directorial debut for aussie actress frances o’connor and is slated for an early 2022 release.

I remember the show came out when me, Ncuti and Asa were in New York, and New York is already so exciting. We watched the episodes in our hotel room and we were all together like “Oh my God this is so exciting!” It was such a lovely, lovely really special, warm moment. And not even thinking about anything else. For me, this is my first piece of work. And just looking at it and thinking that’s us, we did that last summer, for me it was – and still is – a really happy time. – Emma Mackey
