My friend came over this weekend and we bleach dyed some shirts for the eclipse! The cotton shirts definitely took the bleach better than the cotton-poly blend sweater and tank, but I really love how they all came out

Blackwater Dive
2024, hand bleached and dyed denim, cotton batting and thread
inspired by blackwater photography of plankton! this was my first time layering bleach painting. All the silhouettes were painted with bleaching gel, loosely tie dyed, and then bleached again to make the highlights. I quilted the piece using my free motion foot to outline each individual animal and tacked down the rest of the quilt with small satin stitches that remind me of marine snow. I dyed bias tape to match. super happy with this one and excited to show it in a gallery setting soon!

After more than a year I’ve finished the letters of my cross-stitch. It was mostly stitched on the subway during my commute. It’s been my constant companion for months. I don’t want to let it go, but also I’m not sure how to continue yet.
I was powered by spite about how often astr*l*gy comes up in my circles, and I’m not sure a different project would entertain me as much. Though I do love the feeling of cross-stitching.

Oh hey, do you know what time it is? It is highly specific resource time!
Today we have the Royal School of Needlework Stitch Bank! There are HUNDREDS of stitch types in the RSN Stitch Bank.
Tumblr media
And more added regularly, let’s look at a recent addition
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I picked the first one in the 25 recently added Elizabethan stitches, the Elizabethan French Stitch

The stitch bank provides written and photo tutorials as well as a video option to learn to do it yourself. There are examples of the stitch in use, resources, references, everything but a needle and thread!

My swatches helping me turn this yarn into socks. I realized it's been a really long time since I had knit a pair of socks, so hope these work out. I am really loving this yarn so far!

Dog Sweater
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This will be delivered to my parents this weekend when I go home for a family dinner. They have a great dane who is too big for a lot of store-bought sweaters (they're usually too short) so I made one to his measurements. This will be delivered with the dog collar from the other day.
I was going to wash and block this first, but I didn't get around to it so my parents will have to wash it on their own.

Row 14/31 done! That's 224/496 pieces sewn together 😊
I went to a choir rehearsal weekend last week and got 13 pieces done between the travel and the rehearsals (also a friend kindly took a picture of me and the blanket again!). Fun fact: I had forgotten to pack a needle for sewing so when I arrived in town, I first had to go search for a shop that sells needles to actually be able to work on this 😅 I found some though so the problem was quickly solved :) (Thanks to Müller for having a very well-stocked crafts aisle!)
We're getting closer to the halfway point...!!! Aaaaaaah!
I've also finally measured the blanket - I calculated it would be 1m wide and 2m long, the width is now 1,10m which means I was off by about 0,65 cm per piece. If that holds true for the length as well the blanket will end up being 2,20m long. In theory I could now leave out some rows to go back to 2m but honestly, I've knitted all the pieces, I'll sew them all together now. There are no requirements for the size of the blanket so no one will care. 😉 (Except maybe Tilly being happy to have more space to lie on 😁)
The pattern is "Puzzle Pieces" by Megan Ellinger and can be bought on Ravelry. Find my other progress posts under the tag "#puzzle pieces blanket".
