Second Shoot Evaluation
When shooting this series of images i had to change the way i went about it. My original plan was to use the lace to create shadows on the face of my model. Unfortunately, this did not go to plan; instead i had to project the lace pattern onto my my model.
Looking back at my photos now i thought that they would come out better then they did. I feel that my images did not meet my original intentions. I believe that this is due to the fact that i was not able to get any lace that had a obvious butterfly print on it.
However even though i do not feel that they go with my previous photos i still think that they work well as a separate set together. If i was to reshoot these images i would ensure that i had some butterfly printed lace to use.

Aims & Objectives

Erwin Blumenfeld
Erwin Blumenfeld’s take on beauty photography is very interesting. He takes his images in very experimental ways. I think his use of lace and shadows in these two photos is very appealing and successful.
I really like the delicateness and the patterns on the lace, but I also really like the harsh shadows created over the models face.
Looking at the image with the shadows; I really like the lighting and how much the image stands out. However I do not like how Blumenfeld’s taken the image to the side so you can see the shadow created behind the model. I feel that this is very distracting to the image.
When I come to shoot my next FMP shoot I want to incorporate these techniques by Erwin Blumenfeld into my work as I feel this could develop my series further. But instead of doing two separate shoots I would combine both aspects of these photos and have the lace creating the shadows over my models face. I would like to find some lace that had a butterfly pattern on it in order to follow my theme.

Evaluation
When looking at my images i am happy with how they came out. I think that my beauty shoot has worked better then my fashion shoot. I feel that if i had shot more images for the fashion side of the theme and created a series the photo would look better and would go well with the beauty shot.
I feel that my shoot went much more successfully then the test shoot that i had done before hand. I think this because of the brown colour of the butterfly wings compliment the brown hair of my model; opposed to the bright green wings of the previous butterfly.
When i come to do my other shoots i will use pictures of butterflies that have more subtle colourings so its not as over powering.

Aims & Objectives
My aims for my FMP have still stayed the same; i still will have a strong butterfly theme throughout my shoots, but i have decided to shoot both beauty and fashion in one.

Test Shoot
This is my test shoot for my FMP series.
As a practise shoot i feel that i need to experiment much more and develop my series further.
I like how i have incorperated Carsten Witte's style into my work but i think that inorder for my series to develop i need to find my own ways of creating a butterfly theme.

Carsten Witte
Carsten Witte is a beauty photographer that i found on Pinterest. His photos really stood out to me; this is due to the inavitive way of including butterflies into the photos. He has shot a whole serise which includes the use of butterflies. He creates his images with two styles; one using photoshop to paste a picture of a butterfly on to his face of a model and the second seems that he projects images on butterfly wings onto the models face then takes the picture.
These are two images out of Carsten Witte's series.
When looking at these photos, i perfer the way he has only used half of the butterfly in the second photo. i feel that this is more effective as it is more abstract and takes you longer to figure out what the image is of.
I also really like the way he uses a range of models, he uses people with different looks/ethnicities. I find that this is a really unusual for a single series and very different to most beauty series ive looked at.
When i come to shooting my own images i want to use both of Whitte's styles and he way of experimenting with different models.

Personal Brief
Aims and objectives
My aims of my FMP are going to be shooting beauty images. I then plan on creating a double exposure in Photoshop by layering another image on top.
Location
The location of my shoot will be set in the studio. I have chose to shoot in the studio as I feel that by photos will come out better by shooting in the studio.
Equipment
The equipment I intend on using will be a canon camera and two soft boxes.

Light
The lighting that I want to use will be soft and delicate; this is why I have decided to use two soft boxes.
Look and feel
The look and feel that I want my images to have will be very straight forward; as I want to take standard beauty shots; using very little make up.

Other Images
These two images are not as strong in comparison to the photos i that chose as my finals. However i still feel that the way that i had included the props into the images has been done quite well. The mirror and the plant put were my two favourite props included in my shoots, and wanted to put more focus on them when taking my pictures.
If i was to reshoot i would like to find a way of successfully involving these two props in to more photos while making them not look out of place.

My Finals
These are my two final images for the set building and prop part of the brief. I have chosen these two photos as my finals because i feel that they are the strongest images that i took. I chose to take my prop images and my set build images at the same time as i felt that they would work well together as a set.
I believe that my first image is strong because of its obvious beauty theme. When looking at this image i feel that i have successfully met the breif and included a prop in this image well. I found it quite diffcult to keep to my beauty theme as i kept wanting to take more full length images; and bringing all the props in. However i am very pleased as to how this image has turned out. If i was to reshoot this photo the only thing that i would change would be the dark eye make up; i feel that it looks slightly too edgy for the flowery theme of this shoot, and would next time have the make up being more natural looking.
Looking at my final for the set build i am also very happy with the finished out come. I feel that the lighting has really increased the effect that this image has. I think that by chosing the lighting i had (two soft boxes placed either side) has really made a differecnce; this is due to how evening lit and delicate it makes me model look. Although, complaring this image to what i had initially intended to shoot - it looks quite empty. It also doesnt give the same feel of a garden as the perivous plan did. if i had the oppotunity to redo this shoot i would try and find a way of incorparating more props into the shoot to emphasise the garden feel while keeping to the beauty requirments of cropped shooting.

My Initial Plan
When setting up all of the flowers and other props for my set build, this was my initial plan; I wanted to incorparate different levels within my my image. However i felt that my images would become too fashion-y as i would have to shoot from quite far out to ensure that all the props were in the photo.
As i have chosen beauty as my speaclist photography i felt that i should keep to a more zoomed in approach; involving each of the props seperataly.

Set Build - Personal Brief
Aims and Objectives
My aim for this shoot is to transform the studio into a garden like set for my shoot.
Equipment
The equipment that I will be using for this shoot is a digital canon camera.
Props
As I have chosen to create a garden within the studio I will be using lots of props to achieve this; these will consist of fake flowers, fake ivy, plant pots and a garden mirror.
Location
I will be shooting my images in the studio.
Lighting
For this shoot I will be using two soft boxes. I have decided to use soft boxes because I feel that they will emphasise the garden theme; creating the feeling of being outside.
I will place both soft boxes either side of my model to ensure the light is distributed equally throughout the photo.
Influence
I got my influence for this shoot from the new Mulberry advertising campaign.
Look and Feel
I want to incorparate the flowers and garden senery into the studio making it look and feel like a it was in a garden.
