im doing another ic run of kate and here are some notes

When Kate approaches Isaac she overhears the equation hes doing in his head and the numbedrs hes reciting. When rhythmi interupts him, he gets mad and Kate is just like ‘oh you were on this number, and the answer the formula is this’ and he just turns to look at kate and hes like 

‘hi...my names isaac’

‘kate’

and theres just this feeling both of them have that theyll get along.

Aside from that 

After Rhytmi finishes the tour shes like

‘lets become friends ok!’

and keith is like

‘hey hey! forget about rhythmi you shuld be friends with me!’

its os funny cause in my head kate just. when rhythmi is like we should be friends she just. looks her up and down as rhythmi offers her hand. and stiffly takes it. and shes like ‘I wouldn’t mind it’ 

Keith goes in between the two and says his line and kates just like. ‘now that i would mind’

like shes kind of more open to being friends with rhythmi becasue shes actually nice to her??? kate isnt used to that. 

but now shes mad at keith cause he BEAT HER??? NOBODY COULD BEAT HER AT HER OLD RANGER SCHOOL. so shes annoyed at him but he has her interest now. hes not just some loud mouthed idiot he might actually have some skill

Too bad she wasn’t about to get that wish for begging granted, Ice’s face had certainly met the cold ground but he said nothing about it besides a simple grunt of pain for a brief moment. This was what he had expected with Kellyn, he supposed this was long overdue by now and in a way he felt he probably deserved it. He had been unaware, but it was a stupid thing to miss and he wasn’t going to argue that.

“What, were you expecting me to leap into the darkness and save Blake Hall’s life?” He snickered. “Please, I’m not about to lose myself for him. The man was an idiot for going that far with his machine and I wasn’t the captain of that ship.”

Ice knew these rangers were pacifistic, but apparently Kate was closer to his definition of the word than the typical one. He was curious where she was going to go with this, and whatever the results held he would tolerate it. Though that might just piss her off even more.

She pushed him over with her foot so that he was on his back. “Quite. Expecting loyalty from scum was a miscalculation on my part. Call me naive in assuming that you’d think twice before abandoning the man you’d torture pokemon and kidnap children for. Or perhaps that was merely what you’d call a perk of the job?” 

Honestly, she wasn’t even sure why she thought those words would sting. Villains like him would find no remorse in the pain they inflicted. Anyone with an ounce of empathy would never take on a job such as his 

Still, for all her distaste she couldn’t stop the small part of her brain that respected his bravado. Not many would stand so confident under her scrutiny. An 18 year old girl she may be, but there were few who stood so strong under the pressure of her glares. She supposed even trash could have a merit or two. Merit or not though. Trash was still trash.

And it was her job to take it out. 

“I’m going to ask you some questions now and I suggest you talk, vermin,”she spat. Though she supposed the warning was unneeded. He had already made it clear that he held no loyalty. He’d sell out his friends for his own skin if he could, no doubt. “Now, where is your base. Are there more of you crawling around?”

#[ it took me a bit to come up with some kind of name to call him ] #[ cause she doesnt see him as a person and i wanted to demonstrate that by never having her call him by his actual name ] #[ the hardest part was coming up with something cruel to call him that didnt sound silly to me ]

It was meant to be just another patrol shift. One of the hundreds she’d had to take ever since taking on this job. Just another day like any other. Or at least that’s what it was supposed to be. 

Kate stood in shock as she locked eyes with the escaped criminal. There was no way it was him. The union had gone through great lengths to find the Sinis Trio, they had all but given up. What were the odds that it was him

Her suspicions were confirmed though the second he spoke up. She’d never forget that gratingly cocky voice. 

She glanced in her partner Gardevoirs direction. In that moment a string shot flew out from a nearby tree and wrapped around his arms and legs. 

“Quite arrogant for the man who fled the moment danger presented itself,” she said coldly as she approached the fallen villain. “But I suppose false bravado is all a coward is left with,” By all means she should also be covering his mouth, he could still call for help. The thing was, she didn’t care. Go ahead and cry for help, it’d make his defeat all the more fun. Under normal circumstances Kate was a pacifist, who’d never hurt anyone. In their past encounters Kate had countless opportunities to inflict some kind of bodily harm in order to stop them. She’d never taken them

While she still would not hurt him physically. She had no qualms with indulging herself in other ways. She’d allow him the ability to speak, if only for opportunity to hear him beg.

What’s worse than one ranger? Two rangers, and both of them being those damn kids he’d unfortunately gotten to know. He’d thought Hia Valley was being pretty peaceful lately, but then again he kept to himself and didn’t pay any attention to the news around him. Tragedy could’ve struck and if it didn’t concern him directly, he would be none the wiser and probably glad to be ignorant. 

At least this time Ice wasn’t about to get caught wandering Almia Castle, he’d been just trying to take a walk when he saw Kate pass nearby Shiver Camp. Part of him hoped that she didn’t see him, and therefore he could just keep walking and ignore the living reminders of his failures.

But if she’d evidently noticed, he would’ve stopped and gave a dramatic sigh. “Oh no, found by another ranger, whatever shall I do. I was under the impression that your union was leaving me and the rest of the trio be, I hope you’re not here to tell me different.”

Omg so I have a headcanion that Kate is afraid of heights due to the fact that in game, your icon is always freaking out when Staraptors grab them. Anyway I was watching a playthrough of the missions that you can only play back when nintento wifi was a thing, and the lets player was using a male character

and basically in this mission, for the first time (in my memory) wendy actually allows your character on the staraptors back instead of having staraptor grab them by their back in it’s claws. And I know that it would’ve been the same either way but like. I cant help but imagining Kate just being SO PISSED that Wendy gives Kellyn the special treatment like. WHAT HECK WENDY

She couldn’t say anything. Grabbed by the collar and shaken as if any form of an acceptable reply would fall from her lips if they did so hard enough. As if there were an acceptable reply to ‘why couldn’t you save my family’

That mothers eyes had been a mix of heartbreak, disbelief, and most of all anger. ‘You’re telling me you’ve saved regions, defeated elite organizations, and even the lords of time and space…but you couldn’t even save one little girl?! MY little girl….”

Kate said nothing, only looking down, lips pursed and, although it would never show on her face, did her best to hold back tears. An executioner had no right to cry. She was nothing but a monster. She had heard the little one cry for help and ignored her to focus on the dam about completely crumble. Even one wasted moment could mean disaster, she knew that, but that make her anymore heartless for being able to so calmly ignore the crying girls please? It was no excuse for her actions. At the end of the day she had killed that child. Nothing could pardon her from being a murderer.

Another jolt from the woman as she shook her out of her thoughts. ‘YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A HERO’

Silence.

When Kate was finally released onto the ground it was only so the mother could sink to her knees, her entire body wracked with sobs.

Kate never once made an excuse or even an apology. Nothing could ever be enough to comfort her. All she could do was take her anger.

The act was quick. A blink and you miss it gesture but the lingering sensation it left on her lips was unmistakable. She had kissed him. Kind of. Her initial intent was to kiss his lips as a 'girlfriend' should but at the last second she chickened out and she ended up kissing right beside his lips instead. "According to my research, thats what a girlfriend should do, correct?" She was doing her best to avert her gaze, as a hand covered her mouth to hide the blush on her cheeks

    “A soi-what-” he muttered under his breath. It was rare for Gold to see Kate out on her own like this, but seeing her at the mall? no way, he didn’t even know she knew where the mall was. He’d actually only come for something to eat before he went to do some training, so realistically he might as well have been free today.

    “Oh ye’, sure lemme just check t’ see if a’ve got time in ma busy schedule” He chuckled sarcastically, looking at his blank hand before smirking up at her “Look at dat, ‘a have an openin’“ at this point, he hadn’t really realized the context of the question (he didn’t even know what a soiree was, it was questionable if he even remembered what she called it). Typhlosion though, Typhlosion was disturbingly aware of the context, and his head turned so fast to Gardevoir with stars in his eyes he threatened to give himself whiplash. He’d need an explanation about this immedietly. 

    “Take it dat’s why yer in th’ mall? ya ain’t really th’ shoppin’ type or nuttin’ so doesn’t make much sense otherwise, what yah buyin?”

His sense of humor earned him a softened expression. Not quite a smile but her permanent scowl had been lost. “Well I appreciate you squeezing me into your ever packed schedule. “

As for the topic of the mall? She was secretly hoping he’d leave the elephant in the room be. No such luck it seemed. Such was the price for meeting a friend in happenstance. “Well, yes. I suppose there’s no point denying it. Formal wear isn’t really something I’d go out of my way to purchase in my free time. Heels, makeup, dresses, I haven’t touched any of those since graduation,” a tired sigh left her lips. “Quite honestly I’m at a loss. If it were a matter of academic prowess or a test of strength I’d have no problem but fashion has always gone over my head. Though I suppose you are already painfully aware of that,” 

A suggestion from her pokemon came but it was steadfastly declined. There wasn’t a chance she’d invite him to help. She could only take so much humiliation for one day. 

Meanwhile her gardevoir was trying to avoid communication with a certain fire type. He was probably one of the pokemon she got along worst with. She’;d prefer his ambipom for company but, quite honestly she wanted someone to talk to about this recent development. There was no harm in quelling his curiosity right? A brief explanation was sent his way. Was this a date? Hopefully.

"Gold," she cleared her throat and straightened her back. It was a bit embaressing to meet up at a shopping mall seeing as the last time they had been shopping together went less than ideal. "Your timing is...scarily impeccable," She glanced over at Gardevoir as a psychic exchange was made. "I," she cleared her throat again. "Well, I was recently invited to a soiree of sorts and was going over possible candidates to invite for accompaniment. If your schedule for tomorrow night is free, seeing as its just convenient since youre already close by anyway. Would you like to come?"
