Kitchen Cabinet Corner Door Hinges
Cabinets have been an integral part of kitchens for a very long time. Previously only custom made, technology has allowed for kitchen cabinets to be easily manufactured and fitted for every home with innovative flatpack systems. Moreover, they come in a range of styles and finishes, there’s a vast array to choose from. Interestingly enough, it’s not just the exterior that has undergone upgrades but also an inconspicuous part of the interior that often goes unnoticed. That’s right; the hinges of the cabinet have had some changes of their own. From kitchen corner hinges that make uses of the dead space in the corner of your kitchen to soft close hinges, they’ve certainly come a long way from their proprietary purpose.
Soft close hinges are a subtle invention used in day-today living, providing its services naturally and unobtrusively. The innovative design allows for cabinet doors and drawers to close softly and silently rather than slamming shut. These special hinges activate at the last 25 degrees of closure, slowing down the door and eases it close softly and quietly.
In addition to peace and quiet, soft close hinges also prolong the lifespan of the kitchen cabinets by removing the impact of a door slam. Slamming can easily cause damage and breakage not only to the doors and the cabinet frames but also to the hinges themselves. Damaged hinges will lead to stiff, loose or uneven doors that might not close properly. Not only that, faulty cabinet doors will also affect the contents stored within. Fragile tableware and glasses are susceptible to damage and possibly even breaking entirely. Moreover, the contents of the cabinet are kept in place and not scattered about due to the gentle closing.
With Blum hinges, it’s easy to fit older cabinets with quality hinges. The clip top technology utilises an innovative tool free assembly with three dimensional adjustment for height and depth. No drilling or screws required allowing for a hassle free DIY installation. A simple push down on the clever lever system secures the hinge to the door with removal being as simple as lifting the lever.  Blum produces an extensive range of kitchen door hinges and plates for all door applications. The heavy duty cabinet hinges and soft closing hinges are regarded by many as the best hinge system in the entire world.
So if you’re looking for great quality hinges for your cabinets, stop by the E Kitchens website. We stock a range of solutions from cabinets to benchtops as well as all of the Blum soft closing hinges; everything you’d need for a kitchen renovation. We are dedicated to helping you create the kitchen of your dreams. Drawers vs. Cupboards, Which is Best for Your Kitchen? Cabinet Makers Perth Advice
As custom kitchen cabinet makers, we are often called upon to design kitchens for our clients. This is always an interesting challenge because there are as many different kitchen visions as there are kitchen users. Everyone has their own idea of what their dream kitchen would be and how they would use it every day. We often get asked about the use of drawers or cupboards and which is best for a modern kitchen. In this article, we will try to answer this question and offer some insight into this decision.
Some Initial Thoughts
The first thing to realise is that there is no one size fits all solution for any custom dream kitchen. The solutions that you choose should be based on your needs, available budget and the space that you’re working with. Taking some time to think about this is key; the kitchen is an important part of your home, and it needs to work effectively.
Evaluating the Available Space
Before any work or designing begins, there will be some critical decisions to consider. The placement of drawer cabinets or cupboards needs to be evaluated first. Take a look at your current kitchen layout, does it work well or do you need a change?  Think carefully about how you prepare a meal, your entertainment needs and how kitchen storage is used in your kitchen space. It’s not necessary to change the entire kitchen if it’s already working for you and you simply need to update. Sketch out some rough plans and think about how you can move and work efficiently in the space. At the end of this process, you should have a broad idea of where you want things, what you need and how you will use them.
Drawers vs. Cupboards
Many older kitchens only have cupboards installed below the bench and above it. This is by far the easiest way to get a kitchen that works well on a tighter budget. This concept may not be the best choice for a modern kitchen where more drawers could be useful. Before you throw out your shelving, take some time to think about your needs and how you used the kitchen. Do you have a lot of smaller appliances? Would these be better on a shelf or in a deep drawer? Will drawers or cupboards give you the storage that you need for your kitchen equipment? In certain cases, the answers to these types of questions are simple, and occasionally it can be tougher to choose.

Materials For Kitchen Benchtops Perth Homeowners Should Consider
Your kitchen is very likely to be the most frequently used in your home. Unfortunately, this means that it is also likely to be the most abused, so your bench tops need to be up to the task of your kitchen demands. Here are some materials that are worth consideration and may be perfectly suited to your cooking style and family dynamic.
Laminate:
Laminate is often overlooked for kitchen benchtops Perth homeowners may consider this budget friendly option to be a little generic for their kitchen. However, laminates have come a long way over the years. You are no longer stuck with the less than attractive seventies style options that were popular back in the day. Today, there is a diverse range of choices for patterns, textures, and finishes. You can also get laminate in almost any colour shade. You can even find some very convincing natural stone imitations, so don’t dismiss this affordable option.
Engineered Stone:
One of the most innovative kitchen bench ideas in recent years is engineered stone. This "real imitation" offers a fantastic balance of practicality and style. There are so many engineered stone options that can give the appearance of polished concrete or even marble. They are usually created with organic pigments, resins, and quartz aggregates. This means that you can enjoy a scratch resistant high performance surface that can cope with stains and great heat.
Timber:
Timber is also now a popular choice for both kitchen benchtops and cabinets. It can be a fantastic complement to other materials and could add real character to your architectural style. Timber tends to add texture and warmth to your kitchen, so it can be showcased as a feature. You should be aware that timber is porous and will require some routine maintenance to ensure that it is protected. So, you will need to be prepared for regular sealing if you want your benchtop to maintain its fantastic appearance.
Stainless Steel:
Finally, you may want to consider the benefits of using stainless steel. This material is one of the most hygienic surfaces to have in your kitchen. Your sink could be welded directly to make your benchtop completely seamless. However, stainless steel is not without its potential drawbacks. You only need to check out any restaurant kitchen, and you will see that the stainless steel shows dents, scratches, and marks. While this may not appeal to some, if you are going for the patina of a working kitchen, it can make a stylish statement.
If you need help with your new kitchen including your kitchen bench tops, Perth based EKitchen is ready to help. We can supply and fit a wide selection of kitchen benchtops, and our team is on hand to help you with your kitchen bench ideas or answer any queries you may have.

This makes choosing the right benchtop an important decision that could make or break the look of the kitchen. Not only does it have to look good but it also needs to last, not to mention stay within budget. There are numerous options when it comes to materials for benchtops: granite, timber, concrete and laminate, just to name a few. As attractive as natural materials are, they are also much pricier and can easily be a splurge. Custom Flatpack Kitchen: The Efficient Kitchen Cabinet Solution
Home renovations are equal parts exciting and stressful. Making choices for the home you’ll spend quite a few years in whilst also keeping within a stipulated budget can be very difficult for most new homeowners to juggle, especially when it comes to kitchen cabinets. Choosing between various styles, finishings and fixtures can be very confusing and can be very expensive. It isn’t unusual for cabinets to take up half the renovation budget. With such a lofty sum on the table, it’s important to consider the options available carefully.
Types of Kitchen Cabinets
Kitchen cabinets usually come in two types: prefabricated or custom. Prefab kitchen cabinets are ready made pieces that can be picked up and installed immediately. They are definitely the most cost efficient option than their custom made counterparts with a very low wait time and easy installation. The downside is that there are often very limited customisation options with regards to materials, finishing and the sizes of the cabinets available. In addition, it would be difficult to outfit an unusual or irregular shaped kitchen. Custom kitchen cabinets, on the other hand, offer a wider selection of materials and fixtures that can be mixed and matched based on the client’s preferences. They are also a wise choice for homes with odd shaped kitchens that have various corners. However, the longer waiting time and a much high cost  can be quite significant drawbacks.
Depending on the available budget, most would either go with one or the other. But with the advent of custom flat pack kitchens, homeowners can certainly experience the best of both worlds. Custom flat pack kitchens marry both the versatility of a custom made kitchen with the efficiency of a ready made one. Using an online service such as E Kitchens makes the process of customising a simple affair. Budget-friendly Kitchen Benchtop Options
The right kitchen benchtop makes all the difference in a room. It can’t just look good, it need to work hard without costing an arm and a leg. Is it possible to find a budget-friendly benchtop option? Of course, you don’t want to have to sacrifice style or functionality either, so you make sure you do your research before undertaking any renovation. Most people have the desire for natural stone and granite, but the money spent there might go towards more practical purchases. If you want to save money, look into laminate kitchen benchtops, tile, and more.
Laminate
Known for its low price and simple maintenance, laminate kitchen benchtops are a top choice for budget kitchen renovations. At just a fraction of the cost of stone, laminate is a quality option that has many benefits. Durability is a major plus since this material is very difficult to chip, crack or damage. Even if it gets scratched, the repairs are simple and cheap, while fixing stone can be troublesome. Brands like Laminex are made in Australia and manufactured to specifically resist heat, moisture, and bacteria. Laminate benchtops have definitely come a long way in the past few decades, plus the range of colours and styles, so you can still design a beautiful kitchen.
Stainless Steel
A staple in commercial kitchens, stainless steel benchtops are making the leap to residential homes across the country. Although more expensive than laminate benchtops, they are still far cheaper than natural stone options. Metal has the added benefits of serious durability and industrial ambience. With a simple wipe-down it is clean and won’t stain from spills. It can dent and scratch over time but is mostly resistant to typical use. If it can handle restaurant kitchens, stainless steel can surely withstand the average home-cook.
Tile
Although tile benchtops were once the first thing to go in many kitchen renovations of older homes, there has been a resurgence in this retro trend. Given the endless options in tiles, there’s no wonder this is popular with the DIY crowd. You can choose the tile size, colour, material, shape, and pattern, so the kitchen benchtop you design will be custom to your taste. The risk of chips and damage is higher than many other materials, but there are strong and treated tiles to help minimise this risk. Additionally, cleaning is easy, and there’s no need to worry about placing down hot pans or trays.
Wood
Natural wood can instantly change the feeling of a room and make it warm and inviting. Wood benchtops are gorgeous additions to any kitchen, and with the variety of types, stains, and colours, they can match many different styles. Depending on the wood, it can be relatively inexpensive, but it does require frequent maintenance, which can turn some away from choosing it. However, it is a great eco-friendly option that will last a long time if properly cared for.

Should You Replace Your Kitchen Cabinets Completely?
The thought crosses your mind each time you enter your kitchen. Is it time for a change? Things might be working okay, but there are certainly ways that it could be better. If you want to renovate your kitchen, consider what you going to do with your cabinets. A kitchen is pretty much entirely cabinets when you think about it. They determine the layout, the storage capabilities, the major colour scheme, and functionality. Kitchen cabinets are also a significant cost to take into account when planning your renovation budget. How do you know whether they should stay or go?
State of Your Current Cabinets
Are your existing kitchen cabinets in good shape? Many Perth homes are older and haven’t undergone renovations in decades (if at all). It wouldn’t be surprising to find mould or water damage in a large amount of Perth kitchen cabinets. This is especially likely if the original cabinets were already low quality to begin with. In that case, it is necessary to buy all new cabinets.
If on the other hand, your cabinets seem okay. There aren’t any weird smells coming out of them or noticeable structural damage, you may be able to get by with simply refacing and replacing the hardware. This can save you a good chunk of change in the end. Even though it can be tempting to rip it all out and start again, changing the doors and finishings of your cabinets can make a huge difference in the look and feel of your kitchen. This is a great option for the budget conscious.
Layout Decisions
Changing the layout of your kitchen will likely mean you need all new cabinets. While you may be able to keep some, it can be difficult to reconfigure existing kitchen cabinets to different layouts that they weren’t originally built for. If you want to add an island or swap the room entirely with another, you should prepare to purchase all new cabinets. With high-quality flat pack kitchen cabinets or custom cabinets, they are made-to-measure so any layout changes will require new measurements.
Style Updates
Trends change and evolve over time, and your kitchen might feel like an old grandparent in an otherwise youthful abode. Updating your cabinets might seem like a great way to bring the space into this century, but if you are hesitant to change them completely, there are other options. You can reface them as previously suggested, or you can change out your benchtop for something more modern and slick. There’s also the option to pour your money into the latest appliances, which might make your kitchen experience even more luxurious.
Ready For Change?
Ultimately, when it comes down to whether you should completely change your kitchen cabinets or not, the choice is up to you. If you are ready to make a change and either redo or update your Perth kitchen cabinets, check out eKitchens for all your renovation needs. Enjoy Australian-made cabinets and high-quality finishes from a local WA company. Contact our helpful team to get started.

Where to Splurge Money in Your Kitchen Renovation
A kitchen renovation can often break the bank if you are remodelling the entire space from scratch. When you factor in the cost of flooring, cabinets, lights, and everything other addition, the price tag can really start to add up. Unfortunately, those fancy kitchens you see on TV and online don’t come cheap, which is a painful lesson for those with expensive taste. Before beginning any renovation, always plan out your budget and decide how to best allocate every dollar. While there are some places where you can opt for the cheaper options to save, there are other places where you should splurge.
Qualified tradies and suppliers
Unless you plan on doing everything yourself, you will need to hire tradies and source supplies to help you complete your job. This is one place you do not want to skimp out on. You often get what you pay for, and it is not worth it to go cheap here. An experienced, professional tradie is invaluable and can mean the difference between an amazing kitchen and a disaster.
For example, when searching for a quality Perth cabinet maker, you might find hundreds of available choices at a variety of different price points. To narrow down your options, look for testimonials from previous clients, photos of their work, and check their qualifications. Is the cabinet maker part of a business or just some guy in his garage? How long have they been a cabinet maker? And most importantly, what do they charge? Be sure to find one who matches up with your style and budget.
High-quality cabinets
A kitchen is not even a kitchen without good cabinets. They are the true workhorse that supports the rest of the room. They provide all the storage for your food, white goods, kitchen gadgets, cutlery and more. Premium cabinets from a kitchen cabinet maker will give you even more creative storage solutions, such as pull-outs or hidden bin spaces. Imagine the luxury of push-to-open cabinets or ones with soft closing hardware. By choosing better cabinets, you also get the option of more customisation, so you can pick from more colours, materials, and designs. You want your renovation to last you for years to come, and cheap cabinets start to fall apart sooner than you might expect.
New appliances
Brand-new cabinets, beautiful splashback, new flooring, and….a twenty-year old oven? While old appliances might still work okay, they tend to clash with new design. When upgrading your kitchen, appliances should be on the top of your list for things to invest in. Technology has really progressed within the last few years, and there are so many amazing fridges and ovens out there. You would be surprised at the difference between cooking with an old, basic oven and a fancy, top-of-the-line one.

3 Steps to Design Flat Pack Kitchens: Perth Expert Advice
When you look at standard flat pack kitchens, sometimes it can be hard to feel inspired. Some designs are functional, but others may not work for you, and it would be nice to have your own personal touches. It doesn’t have to be that way thanks to advances in kitchen design and manufacturing processes. These days it’s relatively simple to get a custom designed flat pack kitchen that won’t break the bank. Here are three steps that you should consider if you want to use a customised flat pack kitchen design.
Evaluate Your Kitchen Needs
Before any work begins, it’s a good idea to take a look at how you use your existing kitchen. What are you missing when you use the kitchen today? How could you improve the efficiency and do you have enough storage? The best way to evaluate your kitchen needs is to make an exhaustive list of what you would like in your kitchen. Take your time, everything will not come to you at once, and you don’t want to miss anything.
Be Realistic in Your Expectations
Your list of everything that you would love to have in your dream kitchen will probably be quite extensive. Now it’s important to realise that it may not be possible to get every single thing that you would like to have. The decisions on what you can and can’t have often come down to a combination of various factors, such as your available budget, how much space you have to work with and what you really need in your kitchen. As an example: planning out a space purely to make expensive luxury coffee is a great idea, but probably not essential if you only drink coffee once or twice per week.
The Available Service Penetrations
The service penetrations are the points where essential services are brought into your kitchen area, such as water, gas, and electricity. The existing service penetrations where made to fit the kitchen that you are using right now. If you want to go with a radically different layout, some or all of these service penetrations may have to change as well. Of course, relocating these vital service points will add to the cost of your kitchen redesign. For this reason, many kitchen designers will advise against radical departures from the existing layout unless it’s absolutely necessary and there are no budget limitations. This may also affect how your flat pack kitchen design takes shape, so it’s important to take advice and ask plenty of questions.
If they are looking for flat pack kitchens Perth based residents should get in touch with us here at Ekitchens. We are your local kitchen design specialists, from planning to custom cabinet manufacturing and we design flat pack kitchens to order. The Benefits of High Gloss Cabinet Doors
If you’re planning on updating your kitchen, you may have already seen high gloss cabinet doors for sale and wondered if they are the right choice for you. High gloss has become more popular in recent years, and they not only look great but offer some fantastic benefits that may be of interest to you before you make a purchase decision.
Tumblr media
 Minimal Maintenance
High gloss cabinet doors require minimal maintenance, particularly in comparison to other forms of kitchen cabinets such as timber. This type of finish doesn’t require any sealing or treating as they offer great waterproof qualities from day one. In fact, keeping your gloss finish looking great only requires cleaning with a damp cloth, but you need to take care that you don’t use any abrasive cleaning materials such as scourer cloths that can mark or scratch the finish.
 A Rainbow of Colours
Whether you’re considering matt or gloss kitchen cabinets, you’re likely to have seen that they are available in a myriad of colours. However, a gloss finish can create a bolder statement in colours you may not have considered. From light shades or monochrome to bold shades, you can gain access to a rainbow of colour options. Additionally, the gloss finish adds a level of sophistication that is not always possible with matt or natural finishes. You can let your imagination go wild and choose your favourite colour to make a bold, personal statement in your favourite room of the house.
 Reflective Surface
High gloss is a highly reflective surface, so it can add light to your kitchen. If your room has limited natural light, the gloss finish reflects any available light all around the room. This can create an illusion of size and space, creating a bright and airy ambiance to even the most modest rooms. Additionally, since the light is reflected, you can tailor your lighting to create a more subtle finish that avoids that harsh glare when you walk in for your first cup of morning coffee.
 Create a Bold Focal Point
Many homeowners choose neutral shades for their kitchen cabinets, but this can create a lacklustre finish. Unless you are very careful with your choice of wall colour, flooring, and accessories, it can create a sterile and cold finish. However, with high gloss cabinet doors, even traditionally neutral shades such as white or cream can still create a bold focal point of your new kitchen. This creates a sophisticated look, with clean lines, particularly if you have integrated appliances. So, you can still play it safe with a neutral colour, yet create a bold statement.
If you’re considering high gloss cabinet doors for sale, you should visit us. We have a wide range of matt or gloss kitchen cabinets, with a fantastic line of high gloss cabinet doors. Before you make a decision about your gloss kitchen cabinets, online or in store EKitchens -kitchen renovation Perth, staff is ready to help answer any questions you may have to help you achieve the kitchen of your dreams.

If you’ll be needing the assistance of a plumber and/or electrician to rewire or install new plumbing, make sure you organise this ahead of time so the installation process isn’t delayed.
At eKitchens, our kitchen cabinet makers Perth can provide flat pack kitchens in custom made sizes. Our cabinets are made from Australian made 16mm High Moisture Resistant Particle board and include soft closing hardware. Our cabinets are perfect for carpenters, builders or DIY home renovators. If flat pack isn’t your thing, our cabinets can also come fully assembled for easy installation.
