if he's quiet, it isn't the impassive complacency it may seem. seth's watchful, calculating, every bit the architect he always was. is. down to the thin line of his lips and the casualness when she approaches. lets becky loom. needn't the boots to do so while he's sat, but the visual is telling. she's a shadow he can't shake. hasn't convinced himself he wants to. not entirely. not while he can still see a flicker of what she'd come from, still bright, still shimmering, in a gaze he'd have done well to shift out from under. then again, when had he ever cared what was wise ? who was seth rollins without risks ? who was he without a raised chin and a narrow - eyed challenge ?

" yeah ? " becky lets her tongue write cheques. she lets the debt catch up to her. permits him room enough to, finally, plant his heels and rise. all that personality and confidence can't make up for the inches he has on her. how he can tower if he chooses to or— .. or, seth can feed that distance anew. he can turn his back to a sleight - handed threat and walk to the other end of a locker room that's too dark, suddenly, for what she's saying. " you gonna lead the charge, baby ? " he can't curb his amusement. can't stub out an affection that lurks at the back of his tongue. distance and hearts ; he doesn't know if fondness is growing, but something still overpowers him.

" you hate me that much ? " bottom lip out, the pout deepens. sincerity at a standstill, seth doesn't linger. he salvages an air of indifference as he rummages. turns to a duffel that's already half packed and shoved the remainder of his things but the fistfuls till the zipper is jerked and whatever becky says next is at risk of falling on deaf ears. " tell your pals i'm waiting for 'em, 'kay ? "

there's something so terribly bittersweet about the embracing of darkness, how it further fuels the flames of natural inferno inside her, and yet how it further cemented wedges between those she once cared for so immensely, so deeply. some might think she's off her rocker for changing sides, aligning herself with the judgment day, hell ... MOST CONDEMNED HER, cursed it vaguely as nothing more than a mere midlife crisis, or temporary insanity. but, if it was so wrong, why did it feel so terribly good?

the longer she's enveloped in the serpentine embrace of the eradicator and the demon prince, the more at home she seemed. and while she can't ever completely turn it off, the fact that she does care about seth, her motives for being there are anything but pure. " ... maybe, " it's a reluctant confession shielded by menacing, accentuated tone. shift of platform boot clad feet towards him, practically engulfed in a dark cloud. sharp incisor glints in overhead light, wicked grin parting plum painted lips. of course, there's an angle here. becky had found herself reveling in all manner of mind games these days.

" just want to make sure you're at one hundred percent ... honey bunny. " brief breath of laughter. she used to call him that with so much love, where did it all go? seth may think he's the mountain top, but she's macabre in her urge to remind him how hard he would fall. off his game was one way to put it. spread so thin he was bound to break, eventually. and, for once, the croon of her voice isn't the tender sort. it doesn't bring him down to earth or make the ache in his back any less. becky's eyes harbor a different gleam of late. she looks at him and he sees a sparkle he didn't place there.. sees something that keeps him on edge and nurturing a careful distance. down to the square of his shoulders and the placement of his feet. there's no fight seth can't finish. the david to so many goliath's over the years, he's swung and hit and swung again. and, though this fight lacks fists, save the ones that grip clothing tight and tug a passive threat, it's a fight all the same. one with a winner and a loser. a victor and their spoils. rhea grins, a sliver of a pass, and he tastes that spoil all over again. feels it in the barely there smudge of black that's transferred. all the evidence of his boldness. brashness. cocky to a point of self - sabotage. " —can't finish ? ohhh... " so it'll be that sort of game.

the height difference is meager, perhaps, but he utilizes it regardless. takes on a crane that lets noses nudge.. grants a view of dark eyes gone hooded. it's dangerous to note how good she smells. how strong the arms are that wrap his neck and lock him in place. a devious little thing..

" is that a dare ? " the sort that warrants the pass of tongue over teeth. a scrunch of his nose.. growing crows feet at the corners of squinted eyes. " you settin' up stakes in that pretty lil head of yours sweetheart ? " what can be met with a tighter squeeze and a sudden, intentional heft. seth steals her off her feet with deceptive ease, encouraging strong legs around his waist... or not. the benefits of both aren't ignored, but his split focus makes quick work out of the length of that room.

what he didn't know was, her insults laced hidden meaning in them. if there were none then, there was simply no thought of the intended target in her mind––good or bad. unfortunately, seth had been one stubborn, persistent thought and his flamboyant outfits or, behavior were not the only things that caught the australian's attention.

the infiltration was welcomed but, treaded carefully. his act jolted her out of her confused haze into something of unknown territory. the hands on her skin felt burnt, feeding a dimly lit fire inside of her that she had no idea existed until this moment.

her eyes roll immediately when he spoke but, doesn't stop the way the corners of her matted raven lips quirk up in the slightest way. barely enough to notice. swiftly, she returned the closeness by wrapping her arms around his neck while the tips of her fingers absently brush against the soft ends of his locks. "i would but," she started out, pausing as a pierced tongue briefly swiped across her lips. "i don't like when people start things they can't finish."
