Andromeda - The Chained Maiden
Andromeda is one of the Greek constellations. It was named after Andromeda, the daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus in Greek mythology, who was chained and left for the sea monster Cetus to eat, and then saved by Perseus [x].
Practicing couple poses! I really like that excerpt about the constellation Andromeda. I code Kylo more as Andromeda and Rey as Perseus, but I feel like they can be interchangeable as well.

Through a Mirror, Darkly.
I wanted to experiment with Rey and Ben seeing but not seeing each other in dreams as small children. Here, Ben is presented not just as an embodiment of the galaxy’s darkness, but as Rey’s darkness specifically. Does her resentment and desolation about her absent parents get funneled through him? Does Ben’s love and understanding find their way to Rey? Rey also shows her darkness, something that differentiates her from being a pure martyr with flat virtuousness.
I also love the Force Bond staging in TLJ, so this comic echoes that format with panels split down the middle. In this way, it is equally Ben and Rey’s point of view.

So I’m reading Into the Dark, and the Jedi and the rest of their party just stumbled onto this abandoned space station... and I made a connection that surprised me.
Spoilers to follow for Into the Dark.
The novel: So they’re on this abandoned space station.
Me: Ooooooh creepy.
The novel: Here’s a very detailed description of what it looks like from space.
Me: I’m having a hard time visualizing that because I’m reading it super late at night, but cool cool.
The novel: There are lots of plants.
Me: This seems familiar... IT’S SNOKE’S HIDEOUT FROM THE RISE OF KYLO REN.
The part of me that is trying not to be obsessed with Ben: That’s silly. I’m sure there are lots of places in the galaxy with plants on a space station. NOT EVERYTHING IS ABOUT HIM.
Me: BUT I HAVE A CRYSTAL CLEAR MEMORY OF THE PANEL WITH SNOKE STANDING IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUNCH OF GREEN.
That other part of me: Ok. Ok. you’re clearly not going to let us read any more of this chapter before we figure this out and you see that they’re two different places. To google!
*five seconds later and one image search for “Snoke’s hideout in rise of kylo ren” later*
That other part of me: ...I stand corrected. Also, there’s a visual of what the station looks like from space straight from the comic, if you needed it.
Me: Thank you. Also... I don’t know whether to be worried or impressed that I picked up on that from “it’s green.”
Anyway, Light of the Jedi was neat, I like Into the Dark even better, and here’s a link to the connection I’m flailing about above if you’re interested.
