What is a mondegreen? Basically, a mis-heard lyric that is somewhat plausible, but incorrect. Perhaps the best known example (and the inspiration for the title of this blog) is from "Purple Haze," performed by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Hendrix slurred his words a bit so at the end of the first verse, when the true lyric is "'scuse me while I kiss the sky" - it's also possible to interpret this as "'scuse me while I kiss this guy" - either interpretation fits somewhat within the psychedelic context of the song, so ...
