The downside of Dune getting so popular is that we now have an influx of Chani x Paul shippers who act like Irulan is the antichrist for doing one bad thing but defend Paul despite everything he did in Dune Messiah. It’s Daemyras vs Alicent stans all over again

so I’m watching The Tudors for the first time after reading about them for a while, and I just find it so funny that they combined Henry VIII’s sisters into one character. Does Mary, Queen of Scots even exist in The Tudors world? Does the entire Stuart line after James V just not exist?

the way that Twitter users can find someone’s innocuous if a bit strange tweets that’s not meant for their communities and then endlessly ridicule that person needs to be studied

I really thought Cristobal being buried in sand was a deliberate reference to the bury your gays trope, so I was convinced that he would survive and he and Hank would have a happy ending…
…but of course this is Barry and the most innocent (well, as innocent as a crime lord could’ve been) character had to die. It’s brilliant writing, but Hank’s betrayal is the most tragic thing to happen in this show.

bro I can’t believe the Todoroki kids all are inbred because Rei’s family is BNHA’s version of the Targaryens.

I’ve wanted Tom and Shiv to break up since season 1, but now I just want them to get back together. I’m…I’m starting to realize that I’m only interested in enemies to lovers ship dynamics, lol.

I’m 100% convinced that Yusuke/Kuwabara would’ve been the biggest YYH ship if Togashi had just made Kuwabara a pretty boy

This entire Penn Badgley discourse is so weird. All he said was that he wanted to reduce the amount of sex scenes in You this season out of respect for his wife (which is good because actors should have the right to establish boundaries no matter what their reasons are!), but it somehow turned into a debate between “penn badgley is a king, all sex scenes are unnecessary and men with partners shouldn’t film sex scenes” vs “gen z is a conservative, puritanical, and sexless generation who wants to reestablish the hays code.” Literally zero nuance.

I didn’t agree with any of the queerbaiting accusations against the show because I didn’t notice any queer subtext and it seemed like people were just disappointed their ship wasn’t canon. But I’m watching episode 5 right now and Enid’s mom is literally sending her to conversion therapy (for wolves). If they’re going to make Enid’s story a queer allegory then at least make her canonically sapphic next season.

I’m currently watching Wednesday and I can’t get over how boring the cast is. The Addams Family is charming because of how strange and lovable the characters are. The “outcasts “ in Nevermore are literally just average teens with special abilities. If you’re going to remove Wednesday from the Addams family, at least give her show a developed cast of characters so she’s not the only standout 😭

I can’t believe so-called fans bullied a queer teenager off of twitter just because she had the audacity to say that the character she portrayed in HOTD is also queer. I hate this fandom.

that Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke interview really shook the Rhaenicent antis because they’ve been calling the ship queerbait nonstop all day 😭
and the fact that they’re going after Emily and Olivia and not Milly and Emma for talking about the queer undertones of Alicent and Rhaenyra’s relationship is so telling.

The way that some people in the HOTD fandom are talking about the actors on the show is becoming concerning. People are harassing Emily Carey (a teenager) because she said show!Alicent is queer. Ewan Mitchell is getting attacked for his looks and acting because they’re mad that critics said Aemond was the highlight of the final three episodes. Fans praised Emma D’Arcy and said that they should be in the writing room, but as soon as they said something the fans didn’t agree with (like Rhaenyra’s entitlement and how Alicent was right to be upset about Aemond’s eye), it’s suddenly “they need to stop hanging out with Olivia Cooke”
it seems like people no longer know what acting means. Hating the Greens doesn’t mean it’s alright to hate their actors. I’ve never seen a fandom behave like this before.

Okay but hotd stans on twitter are so sick. Saying that the actors look inbred because you don’t like their characters is completely disrespectful. They’re actual people that you’re insulting, tf is wrong with you all?

I’m not the biggest owl house fan, but I think people are definitely nitpicking when it comes to criticisms of the show. I mean, I don’t think criticizing Christian Puritanism is antisemitic, or that all depictions of genocide in media is a direct reference to the holocaust. And as a black person, I find it strange that people say that the show is anti-black because the black characters blush “neon pink”? And while I do agree that Willow and Gus don’t have as much meaningful screen time compared to the white characters, things did get better deeper into the second season.
people are just so used to finding anything problematic in media (like SU, She-Ra. Star vs., etc) that their criticisms are becoming more and more nonsensical. It’s okay for people to like things that you don’t enjoy.
