Enlisting Teachers in the War Against Drugs
If we want to be successful in the war against drugs, we need to enlist schoolteachers. This is because many people start their drug habits while still at school — hat is, while still under the care of their teachers. And once they start their drug habits, it is usually just a matter of time before the habits grow into full-blown addictions. Yet if the drug habits are arrested early enough, before they grow into full blown addictions, the outcomes would be better.
In enlisting teachers in the war against drugs, we need to:
Get the teachers to identify at-risk students: teachers interact with the students for many hours, on a day to day basis. This gives them the opportunity to identify students who are at risk of getting hooked to drugs.
Get the teachers to identify students who have started using drugs: even if the teachers are unable to identify the students who are at risk of getting hooked to drugs, they at the very least have the opportunity to clearly identify those who have started using the drugs.
Get the teachers to know how to deal with students who have started using drugs: here we would be looking at things like enrolling the students for counseling sessions, coordinating with the parents and law enforcement… among other prudent courses of action.
Get the teachers to know what they can do, to protect their students from drugs: this is where, for instance, the teachers can be trained on how to deal with their students in a respectful manner. When students are handled in a disrespectful manner, they get stressed, and some end up seeking solace in drugs. The teachers also need to be trained on how to create school schedules that are not too stressful to the students. The schedules should ideally be flexible, modeled along the same lines as the cvs myhr online schedule. If students are subjected to schedules that are too tight, they get stressed. And that too leads to a situation where some of the students seek solace in drugs.

4 Reasons Why People Shouldn’t Take Illicit D rugs
We are more likely to succeed in the war against drugs if we fight it from the demand side. Look at it this way: if there wasn’t demand for the illicit drugs, the supply chains would have to die out. Most of the previous efforts in the war against drugs have been targeting the supply side. I think it is time we changed tact, and focused on the demand side. And one way in which we can win the war against drugs from the demand side is by getting people to understand exactly why they shouldn’t take the drugs. That is where we come to learn that the 4 main reasons as to why people shouldn’t take illicit drugs include the facts that: 1. Illicit drugs can destroy their physical health 2. Illicit drugs can destroy their mental health 3. Illicit drugs can mess up their relationships 4. Illicit drugs can mess up their finances. The last bit, about illicit drugs having potential to mess up people’s finances, requires special emphasis. we are living in a world where money matters a great deal. Therefore, anything that has potential to mess up your finances should be avoided at all costs. Drugs are definitely in that category of things that can totally and completely mess up ones finances. You occasionally come across someone who is always so stoned that they can’t even manage to, say, respond to capital one mail offer. Obviously, that is the sort of person who can’t even create a budget or balance a checkbook. And these are the sorts of people whose finances end up deteriorating to a level where they easily become homeless… You need to aim to get people to see the potential of illicit drugs usage to get them into these sorts of predicaments. With that sort of insight, it would be very hard for someone who isn’t yet hooked onto illicit drugs to get themselves into that trap.

Using Border Control Departments in the War Against Drugs
If the war against drugs is to be won, it will be necessary to enlist the help of border control departments. After all, the drugs trade is a transnational trade. Thus, while you may have succeeded in eliminating the internal drugs sources within your nation, there is still the possibility of drugs from other nations coming into your territory. There is also the risk of your nation being turned into a transit hub for drugs – especially if you don’t involve border control in the war against drugs. If that happens, a lot of money would be generated in the process. This money can then be used by the drug dealers to buy influence. The end result would be a situation where your nation is turned into a narco-state, complete with the instability that comes with the status…
Given those grim realities, it is not hard to see why it makes sense to enlist the help of border control departments in the war against drugs. Using border control departments in the war against drugs entails:
Hiring people of integrity to work in border control: these should be the sorts of people who can’t be compromised by drug dealers.
Training border control staff on the war against drugs: the objective is to ensure that the border control staff view the war against drugs as part of their core mandate. Thus, the training you give them in this regard should be on an ongoing basis. You can even create a staff portal, similar to American Airline’s Jetnet portal, through which you’d be conducting training for your border control staff on an ongoing basis.
Paying the border control staff well: if you don’t pay the border control staff well, there is a risk that they could be open to being bribed by the drug dealers. Thus paying the border control staff well is an important aspect of the war against drugs.

The Top 4 Reasons Why People Start Using Drugs
If we are to win in the war against drugs, we first need to understand how and why people use the drugs. Only then can we come up with strategies to fight the war against drugs from the demand side. And this would be important, because efforts to fight the war against drugs from the supply side have largely been unsuccessful. So the next frontier is to deal with the demand side. For if we eradicate the demand, the supply will fizzle out, and the war will have been won. In trying to understand the demand side of things, we have to start by looking at the reasons as to why people start using drugs. And my analysis reveals some top 4 reasons as to why people start using drugs, namely:
Peer pressure: this is the scenario where people are encouraged by their peers to start using drugs. The encouragement from peers is usually very strong, especially for teens and tweens. It is not really ‘encouragement’ in the strict sense of the word, but more of ‘incitement’ – where the teens/tweens in question risk being seen as people who are not ‘cool’ if they don’t take the drugs. So they are sucked into drug usage that way. The power of peer pressure cannot be overstated. Sometimes, it can (admittedly) be positive pressure: like where, out of peer pressure, someone is encouraged to take part is something like the Biolife plasma donation program. But it can at times be negative – like in the case we are dealing with here – where on account of peer pressure, one is sucked into drug usage.
Low self-esteem: people who have low self-esteem always feel bad about themselves. So they are tempted to take anything that can make them feel better about themselves. This is how they end up being sucked into drugs usage.
Self medication efforts: people with certain mental conditions (for instance depression) are tempted to take anything that will make them feel better, as part of their self-medication efforts. This is how some end up being sucked into drugs use.
Experimentation: there are people who are inclined to try out all new things they encounter. They have an unmanageable sense of adventure, of which experimentation is an important aspect. In the course of their ‘experimentation’, they come across drugs, try them out, and end up being addicted.

Three Important Areas to Focus on When Waging the War Against Drugs
There are some three important areas that require great attention, when waging the war against drugs. If the war against drugs is to be won, these three areas have to be dealt with properly. In other words, these three are the main areas where effort should be focused, when waging the war against drugs.
Firstly, when waging the war against drugs, lots of effort should be put into disruption of the illegal drugs sources. If you are looking at the synthetic illegal drugs, this is a question of dismantling the labs where the drugs are made. if you are look at ‘natural’ illegal substances, it is a question of eliminating the farms where the illegal drugs are grown. This is not as easy as it sounds. Here, we are looking at very sophisticated enterprises. I recently read of one such enterprise, which had a rather impressive office complex, lots of employees and all sorts of assets — including connections in high places. It even had a website, modeled along the same lines as myhr CVS learnet, for the personnel recruitment, training and management purposes. You shouldn’t therefore imagine that it will be very easy to disrupt such a sophisticated enterprise.
Secondly, when waging the war against drugs, lots of effort should be put into disruption of the illegal drugs distribution chains. The distribution chains tend to be international. So you are looking at global distribution chains, with connections all over the world. Disruption of such chains can’t be easy, but it is only by getting it done that there would be some hope of winning the war against drugs.
And thirdly, when waging the war against drugs, a lot of effort should be put into disruption of the money laundering structures. This, in other words, is a question of dismantling the structures that are used to launder the money that is earned from the sale of illegal drugs. These too tend to be remarkably sophisticated. Very many people benefit from them. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect the disruption of the money laundering structures to be an easy undertaking.

Important Milestones in the War Against Drugs
It is difficult to understand whether we are making progress in the war against drugs or not. Sometimes, looking at the figures, one gets discouraged: as drug usage levels seem to be going up, with new ‘designer’ drugs being introduced into the market every other day. Clearly, this is not a war where progress can be gauged on the basis of statistics. We need qualitative, rather than quantitative markers for progress. And this is what makes it important for us to identify important milestones in the war against drugs. If we are able to attain these milestones, we will know that we are making progress, regardless of anything else.
If, for instance, we are able to get political goodwill, with commitment from the highest levels of government in favor of the war against drugs, that would be an important milestone. Currently, we have many government authorities that only pay lip service to the issue of drugs. Real commitment seems to be lacking. But there is hope. Recently, I went online to check my Subway gift card balance and, after doing so, as I was browsing through news websites, I came across a report to the effect that one of the major anti-drugs agencies was being strengthened. Those are the sorts of tangible steps we need, on a day to day basis for the war to be won.
If we are able to get the ‘society at large’ to acknowledge the damage caused by drugs, that would be an important milestone. As it is, we still have some sections of the society that are of the opinion that ‘drugs are cool’, and so on. They are unable to fully acknowledge the damage caused by drugs.
If we are able to get the international community to acknowledge the drugs problem as a global scourge, that too would be an important milestone. The current status is that the drugs problem is viewed as a ‘minor problem’, certainly not a global scourge. This means that very meager resources are devoted to this particular problem because, after all, we have not yet gotten to a point where its full impact can be appreciated globally.

Taking the War Against Drugs to Colleges
If the war against drugs is to be won, then it has to be taken to colleges. This is because many of the people who have fallen victim to drug use did so while at college. The college environment is one that is very conducive to the sale and use of illegal drugs. You find, in college, a youthful population that is ready ‘to experiment with stuff’. You find, in college, a population that has a bit of money: from student loans, from parents, from the odd jobs they do here and there (like, for instance, at MyWalmart and other retail employers). It is an interesting combination: of a  youthful population, that is ready and eager to experiment, and that happens to have a bit of money at its disposal. The drug dealers are, of course, aware of these dynamics, and they spare no effort in targeting the college market. So you simply can’t afford to ignore colleges, in the fight against drugs.
In taking the war against drugs to colleges, there are two forces that need to be used.
Firstly, in taking the war against drugs to colleges, there is need for coercive force to be used. This is about working with college police authorities, to ensure that the drug dealers don’t operate within the campuses. So this is a question of tackling the problem from the supply side. Of course, this is easier said than done. Yet we do know of colleges that have been able to get rid of drug dealers: so, difficult as it may be, it is still possible to get rid of drug dealers from college settings if people are really determined.
Then, secondly, in taking the war against drugs to colleges, there is need for persuasive force to be used. This is about enlightening the college students about drugs, and the harmful effects of drugs. So it becomes a question of tackling the problem from the demand side. If it is done in the right manner, the drug dealers end up with a community of students who are not open to their machinations. So they end up with no market, and they are forced to close shop, even without being subjected to coercive measures from the authorities or from any other quarters.

Proper Parenting and the War Against Drugs
One of the key pillars in the war against drugs is that of proper parenting. If all parents and guardians took their role seriously, and if all parents and guardians adopted proper parenting practices, we wouldn’t have a drugs problem in the society. To appreciate the truth behind these statements, you have to take a closer look at the anatomy of the drugs problem, from the demand side. The question to ask yourself here is the one as to why people use drugs. What makes people to desire drugs? And as you dig deeper in that direction, you will come to understand that people mostly use drugs to numb the effects of low self-esteem. This is to say that people feel bad about themselves, and to feel better, they decide to use drugs. Furthermore, people usually start using drugs due to negative peer pressure. And the people (usually as kids) who yield to such negative peer pressure tend to be those who have low levels of self-esteem.
Now it is well appreciated that there is a connection between the parenting practices we use and the levels of self-esteem our kids end up with. Thus, to the extent that proper parenting practices can give rise to a generation with high self-esteem, we are also likely to end up with a generation that is less prone to drug abuse.
The question that comes up, at this point, is as to how we can get people to embrace the proper parenting practices. And the answer to this question is that we need to educate people, and regularly remind them of the need for them to use proper parenting practices. The messages in favor of proper parenting practices should be everywhere: in trains, in buses, in churches, in community centers, in mosques… pretty much everywhere. We can even rope employers in: like where, upon going past the Kroger employee login screen (on the Kroger employee portal), an employee is confronted with a message encouraging him or her to embrace proper parenting practices. And if we can get the entire society to embrace proper parenting, we are likely to reap many other benefits in the future, on top of winning the war against drugs.
