thinking about how sam and joe are the exact opposite. both were presented with the opportunity to have everything they ever wanted but sam was willing to kill and betray his own friends to have it but joe refused to betray vito even if he could be killed for it.

i think it shows they both have different definitions when it comes to family. for sam, family is the mob. family is business. but for joe, he promised loyalty to the “family” meaning the mob but his definition of family is the people he loves. he may be apart of the falcone family but in reality, vito is his family. sam is loyal to the family that owns him and joe is loyal to the family that loves him
