So, the party is in the process of clearing out an ancient ziggurat filled with invading Hobgoblins and local Lizardmen who worship an entity that resides in the structure.  After ambushing and killing a batch of Hobgoblins, the party investigates the pool of water nearby.

DM:  It is a very still pool, filled with stagnant water.  The surface is covered in a nasty, thick film.

Edwin(LG Cleric): (OOC)  Knowledge Arcana to figure out if it’s bad?  (Rolls 21 total)

DM:  Sure.  It is the secretions of an Aboleth.  Drinking it or touching it for too long will let you breathe water for an hour…

Edwin:  This water will allow us to breathe water if we drink it.

Morwen(NE Warlock) : We have four bottles available.  We should fill them up.

GM:  …And if you do, then you fall under the thrall of the Aboleth and will obey its every order.

Edwin:  That is not a good idea.  We could fall under the sway of the abomination that secreted it.

Morwen:  We can still sell them though, right?
