" he adds as they continue, " though, guessin' would be too much t' ask. there's way too much i've done on my trip. " he concludes, but even raihan struggles to think on where to begin. "An' who said I did?" A prod for a prod, as per what seemed like tradition at this point for the two. Though at first a raised brow would be the only change in Piers' expression, a grin would soon emerge to greet Raihan's own. "You're the one who suggested it."

Did Piers actually miss Raihan? Yeah, maybe--but it seemed like tons more people missed him a lot more.

"Actually, though... seems like a lot of people did miss ya. A lot." Piers shrugged his shoulders, rolling them back lightly to rid them of a bit of stiffness.

"I mean... I thought I wouldn't get to bug you today 'cause of the crowd, yeah...? Was thinkin' I should just bugger off 'til later, then... y'know, I actually ended up findin' ya."

The moment word had gotten out that Raihan was on his way back? Arceus above. It was like a concert mosh pit like nothing Piers had ever seen. So much for beating the crowd; Piers didn't even want to imagine what the crowd would have been like if the majority of them caught glimpse of him as well, but... this spot seemed safe. For now.

"So, y'gonna tell me about the trip, or do I gotta guess? We could duck n' cover someplace if you want..."

to say that the ocean rivaled nessa's glittering eyes would be downplaying how utterly enchanted her gaze was upon speaking. there's a hum of laughter, warm and entertained. " well, if i had known you'd be so eager t' discuss my vacation i woulda pestered your manager to let me take you along. " he knew better than to invade her work; however, there was always an ample amount of fretting when it came to her work / life balance. " hm ... though, where t' start, where t' start. " he's tapping his phone against his chin, all while crossing an arm across his chest.

" it was beautiful. the ocean was as clear as crystals - and the landscape was vast. the pokemon were the most exciting part. " he had caught a few, though, he didn't have any plans on adding them to his team. thinking about it now, the idea was a bit unfair to the bunch wasn't it? " i got a few new ones too. they're restin' at the castle. if you wanna come by 'n' see them you should, i'm sure they'd love meetin' another trainer. "

“So i’m ready for you to tell me all about Paldea.” The smile that stretched across her lips tugged her cheeks higher than what most considered usual. Nessa leaned forward to further prompt that she was all ears. “Did you spot new Pokemon? Did you bring back any? Are there really spaces bigger than the Wild Area? Your posts were only giving me so much and every selfie you sent me had more of your head than any scenery.” Nessa poked at his side with a shake of her head, teasing for sure. She gazed up at him again, the glimmer in her eyes rivaling that of the ocean's surface. She had missed getting to have their talks. Most of all, she had missed him.

Also I finally figured out why Raihan would journal so much of his adventures / explorations.

Because since he dies young, around his mid 50s, he'd want to leave his journals for his nieces and nephews when he's gone. So they learn about him through his life, through his passion, and learn history alongside him, so they could know exactly who their uncle was

#yes this is sad but. it makes sense bc he knows he has the genes that hold the same condition his father had #it scares him. but he wants to be ready to leave these journals behind for his sisters to find

Okay so after beating the game I can 100% say that Raihan would be fighting for his life in that crater because God Damn.

I'm saying this now. Raihan would absolutely go to paldea to research and explore the crater
