[Scene: A bridge at night; two cars drive up. Out of one car emerges Kokichi; he reaches in and drags out Kaede, who is tied up and gagged. Out of the other emerge Kaito and Shuichi, who slowly approach; Shuichi is carrying a corgi and looks very confused.] 

Kaito: Is that the woman? 

Shuichi: (*shakes his head*) I don’t know her. 

Kaito: Right, but that is a woman. 

Shuichi: (*looks at Kaito in confusion*) What are you even talking about?? 

[Kokichi makes Kaede get on her knees; Kaito and Shuichi stop where they are] 

Kokichi: (*pulls out a gun*) Give me the dog…or I’ll kill her! 

Kaito: Give us the her…or we’ll throw the dog off the bridge! 

Shuichi: (*to Kaito*) What?! 

Kaito: (*whispering to Shuichi*) I’m bluffing, but if he shoots her, throw the dog off the bridge. 

Kokichi: Why did you attack us? 

Kaito: (*confused*) We didn’t! How do you know who we are? 

Kokichi: We don’t! (*beat*) Where’s the kitten? 

Shuichi: What kitten?! 

Kaito: Who is that woman? 

Kokichi: (*gestures frantically*) You don’t know her?! 

Kaito: Do YOU?! 

Kokichi: Why did you burn my house down?! 

Kaito: (*genuinely mystified*) I burned your house down?! 

Shuichi: Where’s Himiko?! 

Kokichi: She’s…not here! (*gestures with the gun*) Just bring me the dog! 

Kaito: Why do you want it?! 

Kokichi: Why did you take it?! 

Shuichi: We don’t know!! 

Kokichi: Why did you kill Rantaro Amami?! 

Shuichi: We didn’t!! 

Kaito: Did you?! 

[Meanwhile, a few hundred meters away, Miu and Keebo are in a police car listening in on the conversation] 

Miu: What the hell are they talking about?! 

Keebo: (*adjusting his listening device*) Dogs, cats…I don’t know. 

Miu: Stupidest goddamn people alive!
