No one asked for this one, but…
If you made lore for a character you’ve had since you were 16, and you’re in your 20s now and have a better grasp of narrative structure and power creep, you can just retcon the dumb stuff. Like you can do that for free. You’re not beholden to the junk you wrote 5 years ago, and you don’t need to justify removing it if it sucks.

History
Lootcore can be seen in a number of action adventure games where gear is swappable based on parts. MMO’s in particular have featured it prominently due to their emphasis on both gear and visual aesthetics and the ability to trade them.
When Team Fortress introduced Loot Crates and tradeable goods the Core Concept really solidified. The Hats were jarring to the gaming community in visual change to the default character models and their rarity made them desirable, exploding in such popularity that an entire economical model formed around the sale and trade of hats.
Other games soon followed suit providing humorous, cool, and later branded cosmetic items, and the visual style became a key part of many popular online games, eventually trickling out into the mainstream.
Specifics
Lootcore Visuals can be accidental or by intent.
Sometimes the result of a person wearing only what they are able to obtain, resulting in a chaotic blend of fashion and function. Any gear is better than no gear!
Sometimes it emerges from Min-Maxing - The act of selecting items for their mechanical value over their Cosmetic. A flagrant disregard of the visual for the sake of highly effective gear.
Lootcore can also be a Trolling tactic. In games where Aesthetic is highly valued, a decidedly counter Aesthetical element or accessory can be employed to stand out.
Lootcore can also be used to seek Clout - Not all rare items are Aesthetically pleasing, and still a player may wear or use them due to Rarity for prestige.
Culture
Lootcore Culture can be driven by Gasha/Blind Box, or Gear Grinding -
Lootcore Culture is focused on the thrill of unknown and discovery,
The Hunt for the Rare/Valuing the Rare

"Not So Hasty"
Ive fallen back into DBZ after so many years after rewatching DBZ and then reading some tasteful internet literature as one does
A self indulgent AU currently living rent free in my head- sort of loosely inspired by events in Blade of the Immortal on which I will likely elaborate on if anyone's interested
Also, i created something terrible that i cannot stop laughing about I hope to finish up and post tonight so....
i'm sorry and you're welcome in advance i guess

Someone was sassy so now we have Alt outfit, Princess Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon Trunks - are you happy now
Silver's for killing Monsters like you, Frieza'
This started out as an drawover of Henry Cavill in the Witcher as an Armor study and then my mind wandered and this happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯¯
I'm not sorry, I'm a sucker for era swaps in clothing and Vegeta would make a great Witcher imo -
Choose school of the Wolf, and the medallion features a crescent moon as a nod to Ōzaru
Cheers!
