Counterpoint, you are meant to finish everything and have appetizers and if you cannot maybe you are not ready to visit america.
Canāt finish the whole cheesesteak? You are not ready to see the liberty bell. Cracker Barrel a little too much? Well maybe so is Yellowstoneās majesty.
We eat like this at home too, try upping your game and maybe youāll be invited to dinner.
Note to vacationing non-Americans: while itās true that America doesnāt always have the best food culture, the food in our restaurants is really not representative of what most of us eat at home.Ā The portions at Cheesecake Factory or IHOP are meant to be indulgent, not justĀ āwhat Americans are used to.ā
If you eat at a regular American household, during a regular meal where theyāre not going out of their way to impress guests, you probably will not be served twelve pounds of chocolate-covered cream cheese.Ā Please bear this in mind before writing yet another āomg I canāt believe American foodā post.

Campbell County has a 34% drop in registered voters. A few thousand people could move there and flip the politics of the place that produces 41% of the coal used in America.
Wyoming, one of the most useless states in the union, has decided to make itself even more useless by disenfranchising about a quarter of the electorate in hopes of cementing its shitty republican majority and bloody senators.
any followers who live there and didn't vote previously:
go fucking vote
re-register so you can do item 1

Best friends older sister took us and taught us the fine art of stopping at a convenience store and sneaking snacks in.
what's the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? don't try and be all edgy and cool and say like tetsuo: the iron man. be honest.
Go!!

April Poetry Challenge Day Nine
Prompt - CRJ - "Stay Away" - Dedicated Side B
I tried your mouth and I can't come back, I don't know why
Wherever I go, I still see yourāface, I don't know why
But I can't make this wrong when I see your face, I don't know why
The city's so hard when you sleep alone, I don't know why
Yeah, hey, I want to travel south this year
Yeah, hey, yeah, tears that soak a callous heart
Your weakness builds me
So someday, you'll see
Away, away, away, away
If I put on music, then I'll play your song
If I play your song, then I think I'll lose it
End up pulled up at the front of your lawn
But I can't make this wrong
Away, away, away, away
Talking 'bout forgiveness, I don't know why
giving you my heart back, I don't know why
Just so you can break it, I don't know why
one more time before I say, I don't know why
Taking all my light and blocking out my vision
I climbed a wall to touch your shadow
If my love's too strong for you, walk away
Aināt got no how watchamacallit

Favourite Colour (04/12/2024)
The more you see colours, the more you know them,
recognising the subtle variances,
the hues, the shades, the shifting gradations.
There are so many to see once you begin.
So when the sky, filled with clouds, could be called tin
and winter brings whites and greys in rotations,
the suddenness of blue is a revelation.
The difference a shining shock to the system.
And the sky, hanging like blank canvas overhead,
is rent not with boiling dark grey of heavy rain
but a true colour, for the weak sun's dripp'd thread
to spool down and drape you once again.
Retreating, greys reflect dimly in its stead.
The light even and the colours soft within.
-
And since you have/get to see two poems in a day as I make up a skipped day here is the best I could find quickly in my archives of some of the sky I mean:
ID: A photograph, in soft focus, of softly rolling hills thickly packed with evergreen trees, giving the impression of an undulating dark green carpet. In the foreground is dark wet road backed by more distinct shapes of pines or firs. The top of the rolling hills is being nipped at by a bit of mist that fades seamlessly into a white, evenly-clouded sky. End ID.

April Poetry Challenge Day Seven
Prompt - CRJ - "Put It to Rest" - The Loveliest Time
Iāve had the same Ben Folds song in my head every morning
for a week
not a particularly good one at that
I mean
obviously an effective melody
so good in that sense
I shouldnāt equate good with what I like
I love tons of shit
the worst dank ground scrubbing mess
Iāve been trying to force Ben out
with all sorts of versions of Peggy-o
but Iām not married to the idea
so Iāll set the cities free
and see what comes back to me
and if I ever return
and the cites burn
and you step down the stairs
and run fingers through golden hair
and I tell you that Will-o is dead
and he died for a maid
could you put it all to bead
penniless in nola
put to rest
or be left
like all the ladies of the area-o

Let's Sort The Whole Thing Out (04/10/24)
There's trepidation in naming a thing, by giving something a name you expose it to all the possible pitfalls.
Most things grow in the sunlight, And it's good to bring things into the light, air things out, discuss them in the open.
But things do flourish in the dark. Rhubarb tastes better and is more tender grown in darkness, and grows so fast you can hear it.
So maybe this thing can stay hidden. At least for now, and when it is revealed maybe it will be all the better for the seclusion.

just need a few years more to feel like i got a good run of it
waking euphoria but unfortunately like the tv show
lucid dreaming but unfortunately like a rich person car
puttin on the ritz but like the cracker
i'll own that one as not unfortunate
meditating on your lips thereās just enough room
if you breathe deep and count in

April Poetry Challenge Day Four
Prompt - CRJ - "Surrender My Heart" - The Loneliest Time
Iām underwater
on this loan
how can I be expected to keep up
instead of just surrendering
my heart
or wait,
do you think I could park it under an unsteady tree?
Would it look suspect? How long should I wait after taking out a comprehensive plan?

April Poetry Challenge Day Three
April 03 - Prompt
Carly Rae Jepsen - "I Know You Have a Girlfriend" - Kiss: International Bonus Track
I didnāt want to tell you but she is the best part of your channel, not for any prurient reasons, but just that there are times when she telecasts an affection for you, not the performative one played for the camera when trying a product or food you just bought at far flung market, but like a moment after that when there is a look a knowing glance a recognition a moment sort of unintentionally shared, and listen whatever it is who you are, you are it too, contained in it, it as much it, as anything in that moment you are to.Ā

Call me maybe (04/04/24)
Imagining the goblins would carry you
away and keep you there safe and sound.
You give your name so easily to all,
too ready to trade your soul for a wish.
The careless way you comport yourself here
each movement a dare to superstition.
You've done the math and could lose a hunr'd years
and stepping out from under some green hill,
find a fresh set of problems at your feet.
Something new at least, rather than old pain
