Saavik Rank: Ensign/Science Officer Posting: VSS Sochya
Saavik is half Vulcan, half Romulan. Her mother had been part of a very small exploratory vessel that was damaged in an ion storm. She managed to crash land on the surface of a habitable world along with a member for a Romulan ship that had been destroyed by the same storm. One year later, a Vulcan rescue ship found her but the Romulan had disappeared when the rescue crew beamed down. Her mother found herself pregnant but logically decided to keep the child.
She excelled in her classes and attended the Vulcan Science Academy. After graduation, she requested appointment to the Sochya because she heard that Spock Solkar would be in charge of the science department. The fact that humans would also be part of the crew peaked her curiosity because of her specialties in xenobiology and botany and this would give her the opportunity to study them.

AU: Sochya - Day One - the twins
Selek escaped from the bridge when his shift was over; glad to be able to sit down at least when he got to the quarters he shared with his twin. As captain he had spent the past ten hours on his feet, standing behind the command  center and watching his crew perform their duties. It was a good crew. He had luckily been able to hand select most of them unlike the rest of the crew not that he suspected there to be issues. It was a Vulcan ship with a Vulcan crew except of the trio of humans that he had yet to meet. But that could wait for tomorrow.
“My ankles ache,” he said as he landed on the edge of the bed and started to pull off his boots. “Whoever decided that a captain should be on his feet all day was a sadist.” He rotated his foot, closing his eyes as the tendons and muscles released. “How are your labs? It feels strange to be in command. I know that I wanted it, but it still feels strange. It was better when you came on the bridge.”

Open Door Policy
It was necessary that Kaiidth interview each member of the crew, in a timely fashion. But he had also found, in his time as a Pihlora, that a slightly flexible schedule was helpful.
And, since the interviews were his most pressing duty, he could afford to remain in his office; completely available.

Denak - Reporting for duty
Hassu Denak stepped from the shuttle onto the deck of the Sochya, his keen hazel eyes taking in each and every detail and committing it to memory. He wore his healer’s robes as he had no official military title and had no use for one. As the ship’s primary healer he was not required to be under the thumb of Vulcan Central. Once he was settled in his routine, he would wear more moderate civilian garb.
He waited for the ship’s First Officer to welcome him on board. Apparently Captain Spock was detained, which would have been an insult on another ship, but as this was a Vulcan ship none was taken. Denak assumed that he would eventually learn what occupied the captain—as he would learn most things on the ship by listening.
“Commander T’Pol,” he said, raising his hand in the ta’al. “I am Hassu Denak. Your primary healer.”

The Real Denak (muhahahhaha)
Denak is a spy for the Romulans. He was recruited young into the Tal Shiar and trained in espionage and in all things Vulcan. Like many Romulans he sees the Federation as a threat, and infiltrating Vulcan society is the best way to keep an eye on the activities of the humans and their allies in the Federation.
He has no ill will for Vulcans. He has many friends among them, and he has a Vulcan wife. She knows who and what he is, but she is sympathetic to his cause. Not all Vulcans are happy with their peoples’ involvement with the humans either.
When he learned that Ambassador Sarek’s sons had been given command of the Sochya, he volunteered to serve as Chief Medical Officer. The human hybrids fascinate him on a scientific level, and he feels that by being near them he can learn much. Now that Starfleet officers will be serving aboard the ship as Exchange Officers, he hopes to learn even more.

Bio: Hassu Denak
Tumblr media
Name: Denak Age: 70 Rank: Hassu, he carries no military rank Duties: Chief Medical Officer, Sochya
Hassu: Unlike Earth physicians, who are only taught to heal injured humans, Vulcan healers also tend to animals. They were noted as being the most formal and controlled of all Vulcans. This was because they had to be as they had the strongest ESP and had to deal with sick minds as well as sick bodies. A circle of healers were also used to seek the truth of a matter from a person’s mind in a process known as Verification. (from Memory Alpha and Beta)
Bio: Denak was born in ShiKahr and attended the ShiKahr Academy and the Vulcan Medical Institute. He volunteered to serve on the Sochya. (He has told no one why he has done this, because let’s face it—is there anything more fun than a pointy-eared Vulcan conspiracy?)
Personality: Denak makes Tuvok seem like Mr. Happy. To think that he’s never been through the Kolinahr.

Soval || Sochya AU
Tumblr media
Name: Soval
Rank: TBA?
Duties: Communications officer
Faceclaim: Sean Maher
Background: Born to a well off family in the coastal town of Jaleyi, Soval is a highly educated diplomat and linguist. He is the middle child of three siblings (older brother, younger sister) and has a somewhat tumultuous relationship with his father, Adenkar. As a young man, he went into the Vulcan Ministry of Security per his father’s instructions, but soon grew tired of it, and left against his father’s wishes. He was offered a position on Sochya due to his profieciency with language and his unusual but highly effective diplomatic skills. He is bonded to a musician named T’Penna.

Reporting For Duty || kaiidthktorr + askfirstofficerspock
"Captain." Kaiidth said, from the entrance of the bridge; the ship had not yet left spacedock, and he planned to make the rounds of— at least— the essential areas. Though, to be fair, there were few ‘unessential’ areas, on a Vulcan ship.
"Pihlora Kaiidth, reporting."

Mandatory || kaiidthktorr + askcommandertpol
Simple and concise; a note marked ‘urgent’, on T’Pol’s duty station.
Commander. You are due for assessment before we leave spacedock. At your earliest convenience. -Pihlora Kaiidth
Not a command, but not much wiggle room either.

Denak's Log
High Command has seen fit to have two human doctors posted to Sochya. They will be under my supervision, of course. I fail to see the logic in hosting Starfleet officers on a Vulcan ship, but apparently High Command and the Federation feel that it would benefit our two species to interact with each other more.
One of them, M’Benga, has worked on Vulcan and studied our medicine. The other, McCoy, has more experience in human medicine, but I see no mention of him working with Vulcans in the past.
As I have already stated, I do not see the logic in this.

A Personal Anomaly|| +beatthekobayashimaru
Vulcan Vessel, Sochya.  Bridge Tactical Station.  Photonic and particle weaponry.  Forward emitter. Ventral emitters one and two.  Aft emitters one and two.  Deflector Shield running at 100%. Tuvok went through the Tactical specs for the fourth time in his mind, touching each control as he went over the function it provided.  He was anything but underprepared.  Many other items could have entered his thoughts had he not had such mastery over each one.  He hardly seemed to notice the other crew members busying themselves around his station. He was completely prepared and in control.

Settling In || attentivephysician + drmbenga
A kind of wild excitement seized Leonard’s heart when he walked into the medical bay aboard the Sochya. It lacked the capacity of the Medbay of a Starfleet vessel, but he could tell just by looking around from the doorway, that it more than made up for that in technology and diagnostic capability.
The central scanner made his hands itch, and he hummed to himself as he set his PADD on a small desk set into the wall beside the door.
"… hello beautiful," he murmured to the equipment, as he slowly walked around the room, oblivious to the fact that he wasn’t alone.

Capram
I had created an alien species/planet for the Treasure Planet fandom a few years ago and with a smidgen of tweaking, it could work in the Star Trek universe so I thought I’d share.
Planet Capram is a highly mountainous planet with a few large fertile valleys, that largely relies upon trade for sustenance. It is an important trade stop for it is the only naturally inhabited planet in its solar system. It has an atmosphere similar to Earth’s, however the high altitude of most of the inhabited parts of the planet leads to low levels of oxygen in day-to-day life. It’s two sister planets, Odessa and Rhisbe, have fledgling mining colonies that use Capram as a trading post. Capram itself is also rich in minerals and has large mining operations going on in many parts of the planet. The planet is also known for its textiles industry, producing brightly colored garments and fabrics made from the hair of an animal known as a pelog, which is similar to an alpaca.

Caprams are well adapted to the high-altitude and cold conditions of their home planet. They have higher red blood cell count than is normal for other humanoids and are barrel chested to allow for more optimal breathing. This also allows Caprams to have high athletic endurance. Also notable is that their sense of balance is not determined from the inner ear like in Humans, but is a completely separate construct at the base of the skull. This arrangement allows them to have a highly sensitive sense balance. Caprams do not wear shoes or anything protecting their feet which are comparable to those of mountain goats of Earth. They have short dark-grey hairs covering most of their body, however longer hair is not uncommon. It is for this reason that they consider hairlessness to be ugly.
The two most important aspects of Capram culture are the clans and color. There are six main clans on Capram and one must show loyalty to their clan of birth throughout their entire life or risk being shunned. Clans are run by elders, however the internal structure varies between clan. For some, the Elders are chosen by the clan, and in others they come from a particular family line. Marriages between clans are not uncommon and in such a case, the father’s clan takes precedence, but ties with the mother’s clan is still required for certain ceremonies. If one is outcast by their own clan, they may be acquired by a different clan, however in modern times, this rarely happens.
Color is the other dominating social aspect. Each Capram adult wears a shirka, a long tunic that is intricately woven in precise striped patterns that denote the wearer’s clan, social status, occupation, marriage status, children if they have any and more that is determined by that stripe’s color. The left sleeve carries their mother’s pattern and the right sleeve has their father’s. White is considered a color of death since it is the color of the lifeless snow (a white cuff signifies a parents death depending on which sleeve it is on). This also is why color is important for color from the dark brown soil to the vibrant colors of plants, mean life in all of its complexity. Any change in a Capram’s life is celebrated by making a new shirka to recognize the change. Darker colors mean a more esteemed position on that front. For example a lighter profession color denotes one as a novice, but darker ones denote more experience. An example of a shirka is below.
Tumblr media
Throughout most of Capram’s history, the six clans were more-or-less equal in power. Even though at different times, some were more powerful than others, it equaled out over time. But since contact with the Federation one clan, the Laman, have become disproportionately more powerful than the rest. They were in control of the main fertile valleys (the symbol of power for Caprams) at the time that contact with the Federation was first made. It was with them that the Federation made negotiations with before much was known about Capram culture. The Laman clan therefor quickly grew incredibly wealthy while the rest of Capram was mostly relegated to serfdom. The Laman clan Elders tightly controls its Federation port and no non-Capram is allowed to see other parts of the planet unless supervised and the area is ‘prepared’ before hand. Any Capram who is found to not present the idyllic picture that the Laman portray them to be, their entire clan is punished by receiving less food rations. The Caprams are also misled into believing that the Federation already knows, but simply doesn’t care and that all inspections are merely for show. Caprams who wish to leave the planet are forbidden from returning home lest they reveal this lie to their brethren and stage a revolution.
