Japanese soldiers guard American and Filipino POWs captured on the Bataan Peninsula. The prisoners were later forced to march over 128 km (81 mi) from Bataan to Tarlac in what would later be called the Bataan Death March. The march, which began on 9 April 1942, was the forcible transfer by the Imperial Japanese Army of 60-80,000 Filipino and American POWs after the three-month Battle of Bataan in the Philippines. Approximately 2,500-10,000 Filipino and 100-650 American POWs died before they reached their internment destination at Tarlac. Bataan Province, Luzon, Philippines. 9 April 1942.

“American and Filipino prisoners of war captured by the Japanese are shown at the start of the Death March after the surrender of Bataan on April 9, 1942, near Mariveles in the Philippines. Starting from Mariveles on April 10, some 75,000 American and Filipino prisoners of war were force-marched to Camp O'Donnell, a new prison camp 65 miles away. The prisoners, weakened after a three-month siege, were harassed by Japanese troops for days as they marched, the slow or sick killed with bayonets or swords.”

MANILA, Philippines - An “earthquake swarm” continued to hit Batangas yesterday as the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) advised people to stay calm but remain vigilant for the “Big One.”
Phivolcs director Renato Solidum said an earthquake swarm has been going on since Tuesday last week, and seismologists have recorded over 1,000 aftershocks, including Saturday’s four “moderately sized” tremors.
He said there was nothing to be alarmed about, as this was expected of a gradually moving fault line. Solidum said an earthquake swarm typically lasts for days or weeks.
At 11:14 a.m. yesterday, a magnitude-3.9 aftershock struck five kilometers southwest of Mabini, Batangas.
It was reportedly felt at Intensity 4 in Tingloy, Batangas; Intensity 3 in Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro; and Intensity 2 in San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro.
Phivolcs also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading text messages and using social media to warn about an Intensity 8 earthquake that will supposedly hit Luzon following last Saturday’s tremors in Batangas and nearby areas.
“In case of another felt earthquake, do the duck/drop, cover and hold and move to a safe area after the shaking,” the agency said in a statement.

The best part about that gif honestly is that it’s basically from the climax where Rizal was talking to Simoun/Ibarra (is that even a spoiler) and basically he was literally talking to his muse

All the best ones are ‘bout the nativity dammit. ‘Least the favorite ones from my place are and I kinda like it too. -He pauses- You can keep singing it if you wanna…
-Now he’s shocked- Eh? But why so damn early? I start ‘round Advent so is there some reason or something?

I’m not so sure about that, but as long as the beat’s nice and the melody’s pretty, I’ll think it’s fun anyway! And did you like my voice, Vin-vin? Did you?
And it’s simply because that’s when the -ber months start coming in! All the other holiday months end with a -ber, and it’d be a waste to have the decorations up for only a month, so why not begin as soon as September hits? That means more Christmas spirit to go around!

Happy Holidays!
This is my first ever Christmas spent away from home and family– I was born and raised in the Philippines, and we usually decorate our houses around this time of year with parol, or lanterns (which are sometimes rigged with lightbulbs, so they glow).
