hi! hope im not bothering you, but i also happen to be making a tv head cosplay, and i was wondering what you did to add the heartbeat line on the screen? ive been trying to figure out how to do something similar without losing much visibility, but im having a hard time. also that cosplay looks fantastic, im so enamored with all the little lights!

For the lights on the screen I used a thin and flexible led panel from AliExpress that normally goes in stuff like rave masks and motorcycle visors, it has an app that you can use to customize whats on the screen. I used velcro to attach it because if I find a better one down the road I want to be able to upgrade xD

I do think though the concept of “shipping” and strictly distinguishing platonic and romantic attraction in fandom spaces has removed a lot of nuance from the works we invest in in the first place. Like me acknowledging the sexual or romantic undertones of two or more characters isn’t me saying they would be a good couple together, it’s simply analyzing the media the way it was intended; but if I say I don’t ship these characters I’m by proxy implying that I don’t recognize the intricacies of their relationship at all which isn’t true, I do, and I think ignoring the interactions between characters just because it doesn’t play into your incomplete interpretation of them is a disrespect to the original text. Standard fandom lingo has removed a lot of the joy of consuming media, being that we can observe how different relationships form and affect the characters in different ways. Breaking this spectrum up into “ship” or “not ship” or “found family” isn’t productive unless the show you’re watching or the book you’re reading is actually one dimensional enough for these to be applied accurately. This is also revealing of how we view real life relationships and sexuality, which can have legitimate long term consequences for those feeling obliged to sort their feelings for others into platonic or otherwise. I think being able to categorize relationships perfectly like that is actually very very rare but it’s something I’ve never seen talked about
