Hank being Gavin’s father figure makes so much sense to me because while Gavin openly takes about his disdain for Hank, mainly about his alcoholism, Hank never says anything back to him.

It makes sense that Hank had taken Gavin under his wing/Gavin looked up to Hank and when he lost Cole, Gavin would have tried to console him, which Hank would have refused and that, coupled with the headcanon that Gavin’s dad wasn’t around, would have caused Gavin to lose his respect for yet another father figure.

This would also explain why Gavin, despite being the “ass” that he is, never mentions Cole’s death and doesn’t use it as ammunition against him either.

They proceeded to get away with it and sweep the competition but then Ash felt bad and decided to give the prize money and title to the second place winners. They quickly ran away with no one knowing who they really were.

Not to mention, canonically in the game universe Gio had a son around 10-11 in G/S/C/HGSS, Silver. So at the very least, he's 10 years older than Jessie, as it can be assumed that Silver was born maybe a year or two after Ash (as Ash is based on/inspired by Red, who canonically is at least a year older than Silver and the protags of the Johto games) and I'm guessing that unlike Delia, Giovanni was maybe mid to late twenties when Silver was born (Delia in yamujiburo's AU is stated to have had Ash fairly young iirc, so I'm guessing that in order for Gio to have a son younger than Ash he waited to have a child/heir in order to get settled as the new boss, assuming he took over as soon as he turned 21-25.)

Gio is at least in his 40s-50s, as I think Professor Oak is said to be in his 60s-70s (Rowan is known as the oldest professor, likely around 75 years old, so Oak can't be older than that) and the oldest Kanto gym leader is Blaine who is likely around the same age as Oak. Koga also has a daughter, Janice, who is close in age to Ash/Red/Blue/Silver, likely the same age as Red and Blue at maybe 14 and takes Koga's place as gym leader similar to Blue taking Giovanni's spot (however seeing as the Pokémon League seems to care little about how old its gym leaders/elite four are, we shouldn't use this as a measurement- Poppy, for example, is like 9 I think (despite looking younger) and is an Elite Four member, Iris is around 13-14 in B/W, etc)

Giovanni is likely around Koga and maybe Lt. Surge's ages, as the rest of the Kanto gym leaders are in their teens to late twenties- Brock and Misty, for example.

Giovanni likely has had a child by this point in life and has started to groom them into the perfect successor, especially as Silver wouldn't have the same reason to fight against Team Rocket in the anime universe as his game counterpart.

As far as I know there's no source for his age. Curious to see what everyone else thinks!
