Do you know why I gave you that trophy the first day? Not because you screwed your way to it, although… That’s certainly something I’ve done in my day. But because I saw you. Someone like me.

peter abernathy. the only son of the late dr. abel abernathy, peter is considered an antagonist in the second season when he tries (and fails) to kill christian murphy to avenge his father’s murder at the deputy’s hands. when he fails, christian does not kill him but instead walks away, leaving peter to be a repeat character in the eyes of ashley graves, whom he seeks out for concern and understanding. peter is an example of how the actions of the father are not the son, how religious people cope with their queerness and their religious trauma, and finding a balance between multiple, sometimes clashing parts of their lives. by the end of the sixth season, in the post-canon, peter is invited by christian to the murphy-graves wedding, and is seen laughing with his boyfriend by the wedding cake.

Two-Headed Calf
by Laura Gilpin
Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature, they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.

edith blanchard. age one-hundred and twenty-seven, the only other long-term vampiric specimen of the american patriot program’s seventh branch until she wasn’t. edith exists in christian’s mind as a mother figure, surviving [REDACTED] out of the [REDACTED] years that christian was in the program. her last words to him, now you be good ‘til i get back, are engrained into his mind. edith was killed by dr. abel abernathy and his team to solidify the theory that vampires cannot regenerate decapitation wounds, leaving christian the sole survivor of the project.
special agent ophelia castellanos. the fourth member of the lexington marshal’s service’s supernatural specialist division and a visiting FBI agent, ophelia serves as media release and interpersonal communications on the team. best described as the boys’ babysitter and case handler, ophelia makes sure that everything stays in line thanks to her father and brother’s history with the slayer corps. her father is a known hater of vampires and her brother, nathaniel, was a member of the slayers who died during the lapierre trials. as seasons progress, she becomes especially close to charlie mcmillan, whom she adores and finds attractive, and ashley graves, acting in a sense as a little sister due to their similar backgrounds and outcomes.
sergeant major carson cage, of the special forces slayer squad commandeered by henri lapierre. the explosives expert and demolitions engineer of the special forces squad, sgt. cage was declared MISSING IN ACTION, DISHONORABLE DISCHARGE after the first failed lapierre trial. it is unknown at this time what sgt. cage’s whereabouts are until the middle of season 3, where he makes his presence known to sgt. ashley graves by way of demolishing american patriot facilities and old slayer compounds. when the deputies investigate, they talk him down from demolishing the patriot facility where christian was experimented at, and he serves as a side character for the remainder of the series, giving ashley intel whereabouts on henri lapierre’s location.
