‘This one thing I do’
Dear Bereans, I have recently borrowed a morning devotional book from my co-resident assistant today. The title is ‘In touch with God’. I randomly flip the pages and ended up on the date ‘October 11’. I would like to share this to you.
--------------------------------------------------------
Philippians 3:13-14 (NIV)
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
The chisel strokes of the sculptor seem to mar the image on which he works. Yet in the end a glorious statue appears under his hand. So Christ our Supreme Artist perfects that which concerns us. The roughening ordeal is part of the polishing. We are humbled in what we consider our strong point, that our faults may be corrected. The trial of our temper, courage, patience, which seems to mar our characters, leads to a great sense of need that God’s power may make us more triumphant. We find progress under seeming retrogression. We grow spiritually under seeming lapses. We discover lack of Christlikeness in the life in order to develop more of the beauty of Christ within us.
We may feel for various reasons that our faith does not seem as strong as it was at first. But what about our love for God? Does God have our confidence more than ever? Are we prepared to say with Job, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust Him” (Job13:15) What about the early days in our Christian experience? Our faith may have risen to greater emotional expressions, yet it was easily discouraged. Now our confidence and trust are firm. We must not misrepresent the facts because our feelings are not the same. The essential thing is our allegiance to Christ, come what may. --In Touch With God by Edward Heppenstall
---------------------------------------------------------
A blessing indeed. Happy Sabbath Bereans!! Sincerely,
Nove

2am
Dear Bereans,
I have a wonderful night, or let’s say, Day.
Our duty ended 12midnight, we shut down the computer, lock down the main door of the dormitory and press the lights off for the dormitorians to sleep and not be late on their sleeping hours. When we have gone to our room, my co-resident assistant and I started to have our testimonies. I’ve been so blessed. I began to see the power and presence of God in that moment. It’s like I’m having a moment with all of you. My fear of losing the fire of my faith vanished. You see I have this doubt that when I was separated from all of you, my fire will be gone. But Praise God! His doing everything for me to have a moment with Him. I am ashamed that God is doing all this effort for me to be saved… But this is the reason of making me fall in love with Him more and more each day. His matchless charms are so attractive.
We end our testimony in prayer like around 2am. It’s been a wonderful time. Praise God.
 Sincerely,
Nove
 P.S.
Still Missing all of You… See you soon…

Dear Bereans,
It’s sad to think that I cannot attend midweek prayer meeting because of a major subject that I have. And it caused me to long for those moments were we have our season of prayer at the close of the program. I began to yearn for the Bible Studies that we have! I started to long for your testimonies… I began to miss all of you… But a realization came to me (Praise God ) that God made this happen, wanting me to have a PERSONAL, one-to-one, moment with Him. I always depend on the group, and this understandings that I have, made me perceive a foretaste of what God plans for me. A plan of reunifying the scratched relationship that I have with Him. I miss Bereans… I long for Bereans… I desire for Bereans…
I continually pray for all of you. Keep the fire burning! Let your light so shine!
Sincerely, Nove
P.S. I AMOR Bereans… Seryoso naiiyak ako. xDDD P.S. (2) Sa ayaw at sa gusto nyo magpopost ako dito ng “Journal” chuchu ko. hahahahahaxD

What on Earth Am I Here For?
Chapter 1
It all starts with God
For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  Colossians 1:16(NKJV)
It’s not about you.
We ask self-centered questions like What do I want to be? What should I do with my life? What are my goals, my ambitions, my dreams for my future? But focusing on ourselves will never reveal our gin, our life’s purpose.
In whose hand is the life of every living thing, And the breath of all mankind?  Job 12:10(NKJV)
You didn’t create yourself, so there is no way you can tell yourself what you were created for! Only the creator or the owner’s manual could reveal its purpose.
You exist only because God wills that you exist. You were made by God and for God- and until you understand that, life will never make sense. It is only in God that we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny. Every other path leads to a dead end.
Life is about letting God use you for His purpose, not your using Him for your own purpose.
6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.  Romans 8:6 (NKJV)
25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.  Matthew 16:25(NKJV)
Discover the purpose you were created for.
2 options:
Speculation- They conjecture, they guess, they theorize.
Revelation- Easiest way to discover the purpose of an invention is to ask the creator of it. The Bible is our Owner’s manual, explaining why we are alive, how life works, what to avoid, and what to expect in the future.
God is not just the starting point of your life; He is the source of it. You must build your life on eternal truths, not pop psychology, success motivation, or inspirational stories.
And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.  Ephesians 5:11(NKJV)
3 INSIGHTS INTO YOUR PURPOSE
1.      You discover  your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
2.      God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about Him.
3.      The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for etermity.
Without God life makes no sense.
Day One Thinking about my purpose:
Point to Ponder: Its not about me.
Verse to remember:  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.  Colossians 1:16 (NKJV)
Question to Consider: How can I remind myself that life is really about living for God, not myself?

A Journey with Purpose
This is more than a blog; it is a guide to a 40-day spiritual journey that will enable you to discover the answer to life’s most important question: What on earth am I here for?
Your next 40 days
Don’t you think it would be a wise use of time to set aside 40 of those days to figure out what God wants you to do with the rest of them?
Whenever God wanted to prepare someone for His purposes, He took 40 days:
Noah’s life was transformed  by 40 days of rain
Moses was transformed by 40 days on Mount  Sinai
The spies were transformed by 40 days in the Promise land
David was transformed by Goliath’s 40 day challenge
Elijah was transformed when God gave him 40 days of strength from a single meal
The entire city of Nineveh was transformed when God gave the people 40 days to change
Jesus was empowered by 40 days in the wilderness
The disciples were transformed by 40 days with Jesus after his resurrection
The next 40 days will transform your life.
40 brief chapters
With a one chapter summary a day, together we will have time to think about the implications for our life.
Romans 12:2 (NKJV)
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
Four Features to help you:
Point to Ponder:  2 Timothy 2:7 (NKJV) Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.
A Verse to Remember
A Question to Consider
I have been praying for you – Rick Warren
“I often prayed that you would experience the incredible sense of hope, energy, and joy that comes from discovering what God put you on this planet to do.
Because I know the benefits, I want to challenge you to stick with this spiritual journey for the next 40 days, not missing a single daily reading.” – Rick Warren
Let’s have our covenant.

We need more than the Bible in order to grow; we need other believers.
We grow faster and stronger by learning from each other and being accountable to each other
